Carried a wheel gun all my life up tell four years ago. Fell in love with a XDM-40 and have never looked back. With 15 in the mag and one in the tube, also double mag on the weak side. That gives me 46 rounds of joy with very little work. But if I were a rich man the Sig 226-40 would be my new carry everyday.

Those XDMs are nice and reliable. I wouldn't mind having a Sig P226, either.

I like my 3rd generation Glock 19 pretty well for a modern pistol. However, my favorite semi auto is, oddly enough, my humble Bulgarian Makarov. I just love that little gun. A joy to shoot and carry.
