Chinese Solar Deal with Harry Reid is Kaput-No Where Near Bundy
jenkuznicki.com ^ | 4/14/14 | Jen Kuznicki

Don't get me wrong, Harry Reid is behind everything in Nevada, but I haven't seen evidence that the solar deal with ENN is even still being considered.  After The Blaze reported that ENN dumped the project, I still see links to this Reid/Chinese deal that isn't happening.

"A Chinese-backed company is pulling the plug on a multibillion-dollar solar project near Laughlin after it was unable to find customers for the power that would have been generated there, a Clark County spokesman said Friday.

In a letter dated Friday, an executive from ENN Mojave Energy LLC informed the county that the company was terminating its agreement to purchase 9,000 acres near Laughlin, stating that the “market will not support a project of this scale and nature at this time.”

The company, a subsidiary of ENN Group, described as the largest energy company in China, said it was unable to sign the necessary power purchase agreements to sell the energy generated from the solar plant to utilities in Nevada or neighboring states."

After seeing countless blogs mention that ENN and Rory and Harry Reid are the reason the feds left Bundy alone, I feel like someone should be able to tell me how the deal is even still viable.  I did read an old impact study by BLM on mitigating solar project challenges, and they did talk about a solar test station north east of Vegas, but it is still west of the area where Bundy grazes his cattle.

What is happening, signed off by the Obama administration, regardless of market viability, is another solar panel farm in Primm, Nevada, near the largest solar farm in the world in California in the Mohave Desert, referred to as the "Ivanpah solar plant." Primm is an hour and a half's drive from Laughlin, where the ENN project fell through.  The solar farm in California, has been blinding pilots on flights from Vegas to LA, barbecuing birds when the birds get near the sometimes 1,000 degree heat that thousands of garage-door-sized mirrors would tend to do, and they had to "relocate" some 200 desert tortoises at the cost of $55,000 per tortoise, and it has been online since January of this year.

"The area around Primm, Nevada, is about to become even more of a hotspot for solar energy.

The Obama administration has endorsed two big projects near the existing Ivanpah solar plant that went online in January. One of the new developments would be in San Bernardino County; the other would be east of Interstate 15 in Nevada, near a smaller plant in operation since 2012.

The approvals, announced Wednesday, Feb. 19, renewed concerns among some environmentalists about the potential loss of wildlife habitat, in view of the dozens of desert tortoises displaced by the Ivanpah project and continuing concern about bird deaths at solar plants.

The Stateline and Silverstate South projects are proposed by Tempe, Ariz.-based First Solar Inc. If both are built, solar energy plants would cover about 13 square miles of public land in the Ivanpah Valley."

The public land Bundy's cattle are on are part of an "offset" for disrupting the solar project land.

The public land in question was never a proposed site for the actual solar project of the Chinese or the First Solar project that has broken ground.

And yes, the deal died long ago. It’s old news. Local power companies weren’t interested. The land was owned by the County—not the federal government. Too bad about the lost opportunity for hundreds of manufacturing jobs.

The mentioned deal may be defunct, but I bet there is another deal right behind the defunct deal.

Reids are corrupt and will do anything to get their way.

Here's how it works.. Disney wanted to develop its high-dollar living community, Celebration, but it was going to involve reclaiming 500 acres of standing water swamp. They got the local government to okay it with bribes and sold it to the people as low cost housing (big lie). To get around the EPA, though, they had to buy (for nothing) 500 acres of trashy swamp down south and ‘set it aside’ for all time. Plant some cypress.. yada yada. Once that was okayed, they destroyed the Kissimmee swamp to build Celebration, killing every living thing in it, with the blessings of both fed and state government.
As I understand the Nevada situation, the Chinese were getting good land to develop and were going to ‘set aside’ the land that is being fought over now. To remove the current users, turtles were used as a ploy..

Mitigation bank land need be in no spatial relation to an impacted site. I’ve seen A Certain large western states highway department “wetland mitigation” banks created by drilling $50,000 wells that use $2000 of electricity a month in the middle of the desert, to be turned on in “perpetuity” when the need for wet replacement acreage arises. No mention of what happens to all the critters that get used to it when there is either a power crisis or failure.

(We were paid close to $5000 to mobilize out to the location to clean up a motor oil stain the size of a bath mat on the sand an cart off an old refrigerator)

The Moapa project is about 30 miles away from Bundy. The Laughlin project is nowhere near Bundy, but Laughlin is just down the road from Harry’s Searchlight holdings.

"I used to think that a name like Sisolak which has an immigrant spelling could be counted on to uphold the creation of Our Nation’s Founders. How things have changed since the days of WWII when I served overseas and my brother was killed on Okinawa and the USA was in danger of being taken over by the Japs of that time to now when our own elected officials are willing to sell out the USA to the Chinese."

Agreed on selling real estate to foreign communists, but at least they were willing to manufacture on U.S. soil and hire American men. Kinda contrasts with all of the more popular willingness of our own government-linked global monopolists doing all of the manufacturing on foreign soil, doesn't it. I'm younger and was only trained at Ft. Leonard Wood and in the National Guard afterwards, by the way.

Yeah, things have changed. There are zoning laws against starting any new, small manufacturing or automotive repair shops in sparsely populated counties in the middle of nowhere in the West, and we're well aware that such regulations are supported by most residents with government and government-connected incomes.

We also know that without a much larger manufacturing base on our own soil (not only American-"based") right now (too late), there will be a contagious bond collapse before long, followed by investor haircuts, skyrocketing interest rates, pension haircuts, more business failures, government layoffs and so on.

There are better ways of building houses, heating systems, producing food and of manufacturing needed tools. There are many collaboration efforts to involve everyone who's willing to learn and practice. But those are only fun hobbies during this early part of the default process. The efforts will very quickly become more serious for young folks now being educated in those endeavors (real work), when so-called property values head low enough for a steer to trade for a lot. And we're not buying, until that comes to pass.

The new fascism, imported over the past few generations to the U.S.A. and enacted over the past 40 years, is no better than the old communism. And by the way, my surname's been in America since the 1660s, but that's not what really counts. The culture was what counted. Anyone who chooses to be an American can be an American. Too many people here are trying to be Europeans of the troublesome kind instead (see WWII).

We have local brush and bird areas that need mitigation when they’re developed. What the city’s done is to take a piece of park land, issue a promise to just leave it alone, then sell off pieces of that promise as mitigation rights for local developers to use as offsets for their projects. Pretty cool, getting paid for not doing something you weren’t going to do anyway. We had to put geographic limits on who the rights would be sold to because the demand from out-of-town folks got too high.

That iss the Laughlin project. Completely different than the Dry Lake/Gold Bute project

I was impressed by your narration but have a couple of comments. There is no guarantee of likelihood that many companies of today, in and out of the USA, are concentrating on employment for USA citizens, most are for money for personal use ala the Buffets and Gates and too many others that will have USA citizens spend money just to make these persons billionaires. I have not been and am not against wealth and even to the extent that taking any ones wealth by government to use for political patronage/votes is no better than outlaw justice. Also, if I read you correctly, I too agree that the last few years of our Nation’s history has shown the USA being taken over by internationalists who would obfuscate if not obscure the Founders dream for a Nation that allows people to be free. Theirs was certainly different than Obama’s vies for change.

The Laughlin project is the ENN project which is not defunct.

The Dry Lake Project is Gold Butte, but it is in Lincoln county, not Clark County—it’s to the north of Bundy.

To mitigate conflict with grazing land, the Dry Lake project was made smaller.

That’s what I’ve read. Also, that in connection with one of the solar projects, there is a test site in Clark county in Gold Butte, but farther west than Bundy.

No I’m not.

I pointed out that the Chinese thing is over with, and look, this story acts like if we mention that, we are “whitewashing.” No, the fact is that InfoWars started that story, and didn’t point out that the thing was shelved until The Blaze showed it was.

Now, they point to the Paiute Energy plan as some sort of proof that Harry Reid is the reason the feds left Bundy’s Ranch, as they themselves admit it is 35 miles away. What they don’t point out is that it’s on the Paiute Indian Reservation.

I just get so sick of InfoWars hamming stuff up when yes, as I said, Harry Reid and every leftist wants Bundy off that land. But the chinese thing went viral and it was bunk.

The Chinese deal fell through, the company said that solar energy is not marketable.

American solar companies are going ahead with different projects and with Reid/Obama blessing because America’s government doesn’t care if it’s not marketable.

The point of my post is that the China deal is over and because China pulled out, and nobody seems to care that for days now, the story has been about China, when it’s not.

Yes, it WAS.

It WAS in Laughlin, Nevada, many hours away from Bundy.

its not over with its on the back burner for now, Reid still pushing to close coal plants and get “clean” solar imagine if the coal plant is shut down then there will be a market for the solar plant....option not exercised because of failure to sell the proposed power and get mitigation...why did BLM mention getting
Bundy off for mitigation if it was not part of the plan?

....NV Energy said that when it does seek bids in 2014 and 2015 it will be for only 250 megawatts of power. ENN Mojave’s plans call for a $5 billion solar panel manufacturing plant and a solar farm with generation capacity of 720 megawatts — almost three times what NV Energy anticipates needing two and three years from now.

By the way, the Reid Gardner coal plant that Harry wants to shut down generates 557 megawatts......

Yes, that is on the Paiute Indian Reservation to the southwest of Bundy.

I don’t think much of solar energy, but Reid is busy barbecuing birds, what do I care?

If the Paiutes care about the environment, the first couple of birds and other animals getting singed ought to make them shriek, but then again, we’ll have to wait and see.

Yes, but not the now defunct Chinese plant. My point is that the runaway China connection is bogus.

It actually looks like Rory Reid is kind of a dumb-ass for screwing up a deal with the Chinese, if you look at it from the left’s vantage point, and daddy had to fix it after getting the area all excited about jobs and such.

Thanks.

The Obama administration approved two projects for First Solar.

I read that First Solar, who had built solar plants in China, is now being bested in China by Chinese manufacturers.

and that will always be the case, we will never out-subsidize our ridiculous, useless energy projects over China.

It’s the same with wind. China bested us on manufacture and then cut us out of the market—they have more ability to subsidize than we do. It’s like a cold war scenario only energy. We keep this up, and we’ll go broke and have no energy. Oh, wait...
