As for the title of this article State of Mind is where all Preppers should start, and from there they should try to improve. What I believe is the biggest part of prepping is situational awareness, which means paying attention to your surroundings. Your surroundings include everything your home, your neighborhood, your community, all the way out to your solar system and beyond. I've always liked to observe people in public, and you can tell which ones are not aware of their surroundings. It's the people who go to the shopping mall, park the car, go in shopping, and then come out and cannot remember where they parked their car. One of the best examples of someone unaware of their surroundings was a lady at the mall; she was walking while texting and fell into a pool. How do you know when to bugout, if you don't pay attention to what's going on around you? I believe your mind is your best weapon, but like any gun the more ammunition you have, the more useful it is for long-term use. Knowledge is your ammunition. There are many sources of knowledge the public library, the Internet, family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and personal observation.

Don't trust it... I filter all my air through a cigarette.

In the laundry?
I don’t believe I’ve ever done that.
It would be rash, though, to say I never will.
Excellent idea.
The fire at the end will kill any germs passing-through.
I've never had one go BANG in the dryer.
Needless to say, I didn't have that problem when I had the AR-50. ;)

Today, I planted the first seeds in the garden beds at my new place. No idea what the shade is like in the summer, because I haven't been here, but hopefully I put stuff in the right place.
I also beefed up my ammo supply a little more. For now, we have stable prices on 5.56mm, 40S&W, and 9mm, so I am stocking up.
I haven't had hot running water for 7 years. For the years I did the mountain man thing, I didn't have any running water or indoor plumbing. Or commercial 'lektrickity. One learns to manage.

Sometimes, “deep pockets” is not a metaphor.
When you were doing the mountain man thing, were you between wives?

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
I have a fair amount of .22 (but you can never have enough) but my friend just moved back to Kentucky from Southern California and he hasn’t had an opportunity to replenish his stocks.
LOL
You always have the best pics heh.
Ok Rooster, I’m with you, I’m a bit younger ex soldier, but I’m packing a few extra from having to eat my own cooking (read I don’t cook).
Tomorrow morning, I’ll throw on a small ruck with 20lbs or so and go for a 5k brisk walk.
As usual, cracking me up heh.
One must be in shape: physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Somewhere in the basement storage area, we have encyclopedia from 1955, I am not sure where exactly. I know exactly where the updates for 1956 to 1976 are though.
We have several books on back to basic kinds of activities, like butchering, smoking meat, making apple butter outdoors etc.
We often have electrical outages here in Missouri, and they can last longer than the weekend more often than you would think. It’s never a big deal, as we have several ways of doing the necessities.
In my younger years, we had a hot water heater that quit working, and had no money to buy a new one, or pay anyone to come and see if it could be fixed. Hubby said he was going to pull it out and fix it. I said that’s a relief.
Then he procrastinated like crazy. Meanwhile we took Granny Showers using an old water can with a sprinkler head, which is how Granny did it down on the old farm. Finally after about 6 months, one of Hubby’s friends shamed him into getting the job done for which I was very grateful.
Hubby is 63 and is working on a tree a big oak that fell across our trail last fall. He’s been doing a little each day after work, in the cutting stage right now.
