My laptop suddenly was less responsive. I regularly run disc cleanup and defrag, using the built in Win 7 tools. On a whim, I installed Defraggler and it shows my HD 14% fragmented.
I was stuned.

Got it running now, and it's saying it will take more than 1 day to complete.

StuNed or Studeren in Nederland is a scholarship programme that is an integral part of the bilateral cooperation between the Governments of the Netherlands and Indonesia.

If you’re still using Linux, there’s no need for defrag ;^)

How old is this disk? 1 day for 14% fragmentation? I've seen database server disks over 40% fragmented, and they worked normal.
I'd suggest you download a disk check utility such as DiskCheckup by Passmark and make sure your disk isn't failing. Make a backup to external disk ASAP. Disk performance issues are often the first sign of a failing HDD.

But seriesly Windows may have been downloading some updates which can make you computer act slow. Defragging helps but isn't a cure.

There used to disk management tools that would not only defrag, but load the most frequently used files/folders/directories onto the early disk sectors (where read rates are faster).
Who knows what M$ does anymore?

Get yourself a SSD (Solid State Drive) and defregging will be a thing of the past.

Try utilizing another defragging program such as “Defraggler” by Pirform. Quicker than MS Vista defragging program. The time spent defragging will depend on the % of framentation and the size of you hard drive.
