I have been reading this info now for a few days and I am still unsure.
I have Windows 8 and had Chrome and it was awful.I could never get it to open.I switched to FF and it is better.
My question is,who owns,runs,manages these companies and would I be switching to the same company under a different name?
It seem as as though all these browsers use Google in one way or another.
For one IxQuick uses Google.
I’m not that savvy when it comes to computers so this will take some time to sort out.
Early in my career (70s) I had the opportunity to relocate to the Silicon Valley area. Something told me that it was not in my best long term interests to do that.
While I’m sure I would have made a lot more money over my lifetime, I’m glad I avoided that place.
The blessing and curse of open source is the fact that a "new" application can be based on the source of another. I don't especially like Ubuntu's desktop or the fact that it has Amazon ads so I use Linux Mint Debian which has none of the negatives but is based on Ubuntu.
Seems like the best we can do is avoid the Google search and advertisement tie-ins and the brand names Mozilla and Firefox.
I downloaded Opera yesterday but nothing I would do allowed me to migrate my FF profile, this PM was a breeze.

pale moon is almost like firefox. Switch to it.
Take a look at Maxthon 3. It is a great browser because it allows the user to make many individualized settings.

Have AdBlock+ and Ghostery running as tho there'd been no change in browser whatsoever .. echoing Gunner, the ads on today's www. would render it practically intolerable for me too.
Only addon that didn't migrate was All-in-One Sidebar, which I've realized since yesterday wasn't getting enough use to justify the overhead anyway.
I'd installed and trialed PaleMoon a couple/few ? years ago, but abandoned it due to its being finicking about importing my FF addons etc, much time having been invested in choosing/configuring same.
Hated to do it too, as PM seemed considerably quicker than FF in my unscientific comparison.
But given the Mo.nazi.zilla situation, I d/l the newest PM build (24.4.2) an hour ago and so far have been vey pleasantly surprised (seriesly) at how seamlessly the install went.
Only had one add-on that was found to be incompatible, but it's no loss as equivalent functionality was (already) found elsewhere.
Tab bar appeared on the bottom exactly as I prefer it, and tabs that were opened in FF when PM was installed popped up right where I'd left them. Ditto re my menu layouts and bookmarks.
A profile migration tool has been developed to import all that stuff from FF.
Don't recall if such was available when I originally tried PM, but it worked like a champ on this machine. Pale Moon profile migration tool
Anyway, so far so good, and in about ten minutes I'm gonna fire up Revo and take great pleasure in nuking Mo.nazi.zilla from my system.
Will be repeating the process on the three other machines hereabouts this weekend.
Hopefully several hundred thousand+ will do the same.

Waterfox is for 64 bit platforms.
A company with left wing PC views is one thing. Actively pursuing a totalitarian policy to punish those with differing thought (as Mozilla is doing) is quite another.
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the Mozilla email client, Thunderbird

Can you explain “Thunderbird”? I have e-mail addresses at work, g-mail and aol mail.
Does Thunderbird use a unique @***?
Does Thunderbird route all my different mail addresses?

Duck Duck Go, as I recall, uses Google but shields you from their tracking.
Thunderbird is an open source email client. For example, if you have a gmail account (xyz@gmail.com) you probably view your email via your web browser (web mail). A client is installed on your computer and it retrieves messages from your email provider and stores them on your computer.
I have about 7 email addresses on 3 different email services. The client is configured so that it collects email from each account and likewise sends from the any of the accounts.
If I disconnect from the internet I can read email, compose new messages, etc.
