I believe a lot of gamers end up with more machine than they really need. There was a time when the latest games required the latest hardware. I am not sure, but I think that is no longer true.

On the other hand, video editing is very processor intensive.

Thanks for putting a bug in my ear about video editing, HD video at that.

Never really thought about it, but may get into it now I have more time on my hands. Looked into the Intel i3=i5=i7 differences and realized that the small price premium for the i7 was likely worth it. That and a "gamer" geforce video card made sense as well, so ordered a box with Win 7 like that.

About the only other thing I could have done was a solid state hard drive, more memory, blu-ray DVD burner, etc. But that is the nice thing about a full size desktop. Upgrading is easy and fun.
