I most definitely see your point. The 10% figure you give, I feel, is very accurate as history has proven. 10% would probably be on the high side. However, if there’s civil unrest and the only line of defense is with your firearm, USA citizens may cling to their firearms as they would their generator during a prolonged power outage.
We have a few “advantages” that I hope would double the 10% figure to 20%...our freedom and open knowledge of history. Nobody knows exactly how many gun owners would defend their right, but hope as they study history they’ll realize over 200,000,000 (innocent) have died after firearms were banned or confiscated in the past 100 years!! If anyone thinks it will be any different, they’re living in complete ignorance.
There are also many other factors that will come into play...especially the how, when, why? In the middle of the day? Pull you over on the highway? Through severe taxes? Through the IRS? Through hospitals? Cut off your credit, insurance, isolate you and your family? Go to war against another country, declare Marshall law? How I think it will happen...terrorist cells will run rampant in the cities and beyond and the USA citizens will BEG for the government to stop it any way they can...hence, for your safety always seems to work with a desperate, scared populace.
But one thing seems certain...more and more people are being introduced to firearms and more understand the reason for the 2A. I believe we have very scary times ahead of us..something we’ve never experienced or have imagined we’d ever see in the USA. What will it look like? I don’t know but one thing is certain...be prepared, have a good group of friends/family nearby you can trust and pray! Pray daily for God’s direction, guidance and peace.
