Maybe he could be in a cabinet position in charge of dismantling Obamacare lol
That is disturbing, but I’d still love for him to be my senator.
Until Obama hit the proverbial fan, American Presidents used to campaign and say, “This is what I believe, but if am elected, I will follow the will of the people.” Most other presidents knew it was not their job to dictate policy, but to implement it as only one of the three branches of government. If Carson or someone like him were to run, and say that he would respect the will of the people, even with the second ammendment, this may allow voters like Dana to reconsider him.
I agree. I like Carson but the gun control issue is problematic. I still think he’s heads and tails above the so called establishment front runners Bush and Christie. I prefer Cruz and Paul to any of the others. I want someone that knows how to sell conservatism and liberty not some “manager” that wants to merely slow down the advance of the left. We need someone who will present a stark appealing contrast to the leftist/corporatist power structure. Reagan did that to a large extent. Right now the GOP counts on being the bland alternative to an out of control progressive agenda which is pathetic given the power of the ideas on which this country was founded. How in the world can we not win arguments against people that want to control every aspect of a person’s life. They want to control how many children you can have, they want to control how much energy you can use, how big your car can be, what kind of food you can eat, how you run your business, how and on what terms you can worship, what kind of speech is acceptable, and on and on. How is it that our so called leadership can not make the case against the control freak left?
Where does Carson stand exactly on questions like taxes, entitlements, defense, foreign affairs, etc., etc.
It’s a wrongheaded idea to think that such restrictions will do any good.
Nobody’s perfect, something will come out every candidate.
You’ll have to vote for an imperfect candidate if you vote.
I’ll worry about all that the night before election day. In the meantime I’ll keep track of my options.
What part of "shall not be infringed" does he not understand. Fatally imperfect.
Deal killer for sure.
Dr. Ben simply needs a little education on the subject of guns and the Second Amendment.
His attitude is the type that creates hell holes like Chicago and D.C., where only the criminals are armed.
.......love Carson but didn’t know he was queasy on gun control rights. So.....me too.
I would support him for Mayor of Detroit. He’s already a hero there and would be powerless on the guns issue because of state supremacy. Plus at the rate locals are taking out the thugs in the city it might cause him to change his mind.
No doubt; something we all need to accept as reality.
I really wouldn't consider Carson as a serious presidential contender, regardless of his gun views. I say this as someone who respects him completely as the brilliant surgeon and scientist he is. I've personally known two families whose children received his care, and they rave about him. But not all conservatives -- perfect, imperfect, whatever -- are fit for public office. Certainly not the presidency. Carson, while an asset to conservatism in general, is not presidential material IMHO.
It isn’t about ‘reconsidering’ a good man. It is about tainting a good man to clear him out of the way of GOPe control. The Blaze will work to eliminate Mitt’s competition even as Glenn Beck claims he would not vote for Romney.
I don’t get these people who don’t get the 2nd amendment. Too damned educated maybe.
I love Dana - she is a St. Louis gal and one hell of a conservative. But as usual, the right throws the baby out with the bath water over one point. A big one yes, but still, just one point. Perhaps that is why we don’t win elections that matter.
Well, of course.
We don't need to latch onto every intelligent-sounding conservative who makes the news. Carson isn't a politician. Now, that's good -- very good -- in one respect, but a losing proposition for a presidential candidate.
Dr. Carson advocates intelligent discussions on important issues, discussions between the people and their leaders. Yet because he makes one remark about not wanting some nut case in the Big Apple to be sporting a machine gun he’s suddenly totally disqualified.
I’m 100% 2nd Amendment but remember how they crucified Gov. Perry on his debate performance and that too was a deal-killer. Even though it came out later that he was still on pain killers from his back surgery he was done.
Personally, I think we need to get all sides of the story before we disqualify possible candidates this go-round. Let’s hear the details of how Dr. Carson views this issue. Just because he’d rather the nut case not have a weapon doesn’t mean he’d favor gun control.
We knocked all our guys down last time one by one on some single statement or issue and were left with Romney. Time to really explore our candidates.
He has a truly great story, a wonderful role model not only for any black person or white coming from an underprivileged position!
That being said, I'm not sure that I'd be thrilled for him to be a cabinet secretary either but he'd make an awesome Surgeon General!
