USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) News!
Radio Free NJ ^ | 3/4/2014 | frithguild

As has been posted here at RFNJ, the Parting Shot, putting the punctuation at the end of the sentence, our Russians friends this afternoon put their ICMB sky rockets in flight.

In a related story, the USS George HW Bush put into port in Piraeus, Greece, leaving her sailors the opportunity to explore the neighboring cities including Athens, as well as take part in community relations events. "I am really excited to visit the Acropolis," said Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Chase Tallent, a member of VFA-31 aboard George H.W. Bush. "I also can't wait to learn about all the history."

"I'm looking forward to being able to give back to the local community in a positive way," said Seaman Andrew Johnson, a first time deployer and native of Mount Vernon, Texas. "I'm also interested in seeing other countries ways of life."

The command structure aboard the vessel will be hosting a reception on board for dignitaries and participating in community relations projects.

It sounds so excellent! So if I too am heading toward Athens, can I call a travel agent for a boarding pass?

“I’m looking forward to being able to give back to the local community in a positive way,”. HUH? Community service for the Greeks? Okay, we’ve been totally inculcated in this kinder gentler crap. Where’s the bar fights?

"I also can't wait to learn about all the history."

Get a good snoot full of the birthplace of democracy. Because by the time you get home swabbie, you won't find any.

Been over 40 years since my time in the Navy. However, from what I understand, in the "New Navy", coming back from liberty even slightly intoxicated could get you a stint in alcohol rehab.

I got out in ‘70. Man did we have some fun. We’d probably get drummed out today. Rehab=mental issues=denial of purchase for firearms. And, it’s on you PERMANENT record too.

IOW No trips to Texas Jacks in Palma Huh? LOL

I worked the liberty boats in the Med. Let's see take one very drunk and belligerent sailor and put a life jacket on him. Insert sailor into wire mesh stretcher and place another wire mesh stretcher over that one forming a secure holding cage. Tie life jackets to cage. Place drunk on the liberty launch and back he goes to the ship.

LOL! I guess no Bluebird in Naples anymore? No Flyin’ C&B on the docks? No empty watch boxes after you just bought an “authentic” rolex? Good times.

My wife and I are the proud grandparents of the finest grandsons ever. What a great kid!
We both choke up when we remember the times we kept him over the weekends when his mother was on duty. I taught him to spit and to do number 1 behind the barn and not go inside every time he needed to do that.
Started that kid out the right way.

Now we both are worried sick because the idiots in Washington could easily sacrifice him for nothing.

Please keep him and his shipmates in your daily prayers
