We love Miss P, who had the guts to run for Congress, but most IL FReepers disagree with her on Oberweis. He’s a perennial office-seeker who has lost virtually every race except for State Senate (including blowing the race to succeed Hastert, after he obliterated an excellent candidate that was on track to win). He’s only been in the legislature for barely a year, and now he’s looking to get out of it already. He needs to stick to the job he was elected to.
Besides, the Combine won’t allow an actual first-tier challenger to take on Durbin. The last time a non-Combiner had the resources to and won, Pete Fitzgerald, the RINO/Combiners spent the next 6 years destroying him and ran him out of office despite being the best Senator the state had had since Everett Dirksen. The lead thug was Rep. Ray LaHood, and he cleared the way for Zero in 2004. Zero rewarded the Combiner RINO with a Cabinet office for his service to the “cause.”
I would go so far as to say that I HATE the RINO Newt Gingrich so his endorsement of Traux does not thrill me.
But Oberweis is old garbage who will NEVER win higher office, he should sit back and enjoy the State Senate seat he finally won and end his narcissistic and endless campaign for the US Senate. Candidates like him act like Kings without Kingdoms and it borderline sickens me.
Unless Truax is revealed to be a Kirk style RINO I back him as the only alternative to Oberweis. He may have a 1% chance of beating Durbin but that’s better than Oberweis’ 0%.
Just to remind everyone, back in his very first run for this office in year of our Lord 2002, he called pro-lifers the American taliban. He’s beloved in some circles ever since his about-face second run in 2004 when he adopted a strident anti-illegals platform. Call me a cynic, I’d buy his delicious ice cream but I won’t buy the red meat he’s tossing at us. It smells.
Fieldmarshaldj, how do you know that the majority of IL freepers disagree with ChicagoLady about Oberweis? Did you survey us? I’ll vote for him. He’s a well-known conservative state senator, but I never heard of Truax before July 15.
