What the theme was was a history of Russia. They couldn’t just skip over 70 years of their history, so they ‘sanitized’ it and presented images of the old system and highlighted the ‘good parts’ like lovers, marriage, kids, sports, etc.
I think they were trying to tell the world, “We’re not like that any more.”
Now...whether or not anyone BELIEVES that is a whole ‘nother story.
I’m watching just because I LOVE the Olympics. It doesn’t matter where they’re held. (Provided of course that the IOC doesn’t lose their collective minds and consider places like Pyongyang or Havana.)

That’s exactly what it was and when you read about it you understand the entire show. Some have said if you weren’t there it would be hard to understand photos .

True...but I’m not convinced Russian people don’t need a tight hold in some respects. Look at what happens when you give people unaccustomed to freedom the freedom they claim they want in the Muslim Countries!
Russians have better sense no doubt...but still they have not been accustomed to “regulating” themselves in a free society and still demand the government should be doing more for them.

You have to read about it for yourself I guess...am just saying that Journalists are tweeting if you aren’t there it will seem confusing or hard to understand. They didn’t seem to have a problem with it because they’re there.
