I didn’t include it in my blog post because I didn’t want to get too complicated, but the video of the family rushing up to a casket to bid their farewells does not seem like it can be the same funeral, although the layout of the windows and placement of a wreath on the wall on the right side of the church (as seen there) matches the layout of windows and wreath on the left side, as seen in the photo of the family huddled near the casket by the yellow flowers and pulpit. So I think this is in the same church. But here’s a comparison of some discrepancies:

The image showing the family rushing forward to “say aloha”, compared to the image on the Diocese website, has:

1. white flowers looped around the left-most corner of the casket lid (v. white flowers in middle, green swag on each side

2. Easel to the right of the casket with 2 pages of writing posted side by side (v. no easel or body-in-casket image with one page)

3. No red chairs, and seemingly no ROOM for red chairs (v 2 large red chairs)

4. Candle placed substantially to the left of the casket (v candle placed very close to casket)

5. Candle’s drip pan below the height of the casket lid. (v. candle’s drip pan above height of casket lid)

6. Podium on the right side, by the 2 Christmas trees (v no podium showing anywhere on the right side of the chancel.

The wooden wall has also confused me. But I think we’re probably dealing with more than one funeral setting in the same church. KITV inserted alien footage of the casket with the body inside, and they could well have inserted alien footage of the “family” rushing forward as well. There’s a heavy lady with a bun in her hair and a loose floral dress who is in the image of the family rushing forward but is also in the line to greet the family up by the red chairs in another image. Seems like she’s not sure whether she is family or not, maybe... Or it’s from 2 different funerals - one having the red chairs set up and the other without them.

This lovely couple kindly shared their wedding photos, and there you can see some more of how the church is arranged. The priest’s podium must have been on the altar level, up all the steps. Abercrombie’s was lower and the wooden wall must be at altar level, in the alcove-like area, whereas to the side of Abercrombie’s was the doorway. The marble-like thing is the baptismal font, apparently. While looking for these photos, I found quite a few images of the church choir; spotted Fuddy in none of them. The priests I found in the image search weren’t the guy who spoke at her funeral. btw, I learned that Catholics don’t give any eulogy at a Requiem Mass, but the video refers to the priest’s address as “the sermon.” It’s not a formal eulogy. It appears as if they did splice together footage from various events because even if they moved some items (like the flowers or the easels) for the services, I don’t think they would have moved all those funeral wreaths. Where would they have put them for the Mass? Later on, they may have put them into the limousine for transport to the cemetery (if that’s what happened next), but they seemed to be missing during the Mass and then reappeared for the final farewell walk-by. I’ll view it one more time to watch those red chairs and the lady with the bun.

Butter, you are wrong the KITV video close-up is without question Fuddy's body.

But first the red chairs (IIRC, called the Cardinal's Chair, where he sits when he is in attendance). Look at this image:

The red chairs are in the back, behind the altar. They would have been to the left and out of the frame of the KITV video. BTW - where the gifts are in this image is where the poinsettias are in the Fuddy funeral picture.

IMO, the reason that in this image the red chairs appear to be next to Governor Abercrombie is due to an effect called foreshortening.

In this image:

Notice the woman in the purple muumuu with the black neckline standing to the extreme left greeting mourners? I believe this maybe Fuddy's sister. She appears in the KITV video at 2:03 mark as she approaches the casket with the family.

Stop the video at 2:03 and look to the left of her shoulder and above the casket. There is a two page memoriam from the Hawaii State Legislature. The page on the left says "The Hawaii State Legislature hereby presents this certificate to Loretta "Deliana" Fuddy, Director, State Department of Health in memoriam" followed by several paragraphs of tribute. The right hand page is three columns of state legislator signatures. The two page memoriam has a black matte and is in a brown wood frame. You can see an image of the memoriam on this KHON video at the 1:26 mark.

Now go to Butter's image #1 taken from the KITV video. Follow the pall's embroidery up and you can plainly see a faint three column white page with a black and brown border. This is the right hand page of the memoriam with the three columns of state legislator signatures.

Stop the KOHN video at the 0:30 mark and you can see the legislature's memoriam and the wreaths behind the line of mourners viewing the body. Then stop it at the 0:33 mark and the casket is closed and the sitting in the aisle. Now continue on to the 0:50 mark and watch as they close the casket and lift the edge of the pall where it has been folded over.

The problem (besides all the different camera angles) is that we may be seeing two different services for Fuddy. The viewing and family visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the funeral mass which started at 11:00.

Fuddy Obituary

The news studios may have intercut the two services.

If the pall had a double-side embroidery, the dark side in the KITV close up might have been the underside.
