I am a Conservative and a Republican and a native of San Francisco. I've voted GOP since 1975, when I married a Republican.
Even my Democrat friends are conservative because they are now OLDER, close to 70, and see the world differently than they did 50 years ago.
Life SHOULD change people for the better, the maturing process.
Unfortunately, that must be a small group of people, because the change in the city in 4 decades has gone from bad to execrable on the left-wing ideological scale. The hilarity that they themselves (SF and environs) have become so rigid and reactionary against any dissenting thought that passes for center-right is the premier example of their hypocrisy. No matter the age, it’s like permanent juvenile fantasy-world stuff.
In the ‘60s/’70s/’80s, it could simply be passed off as it being “just their way”, since the rest of the nation as a whole wasn’t harmed by it. Today, that rotted mindset has swept like a cancer, not just falling California by the ‘90s, but in enough states to constitute a majority in our national & cultural affairs and the Presidency. It is terrifying to the rest of us that truly understand the consequences and end result of such insanity, and there simply is no other word to describe it (perhaps Satanic, and that I believe, is also a strong aspect, with the rejection of Judeo-Christian norms of morality, ethics, et al).
If they’re still democrats, they ain’t conservative.
