Are you saying that your Birth Certificate was never registered at the county court house or at the hospital ?

I was born by a midwife, and mum had to be driven to the hospital (not certain how much later) to substantiate it, then over to the county 'hall of records' or 'clerk' or whatever they had back then. She is not too sure these days, not that I blame her considering her age and the circumstances back then. The old county records-keeping place is long gone, and I was recorded along with the weight at the time and general description, and applying for the required SSN by mum and the nearest male family relative or male close friend who would affirm by signature that it was indeed I that had been born, signed at the old hospital then.

How different things are today, eh?

My dad was born by a "country mid wife" in a small home more than 10 miles away from a hospital in the early 30s.
But his birth was documented and recorded at the local County Court House Hall of Records..
