There is a beautiful psalm of David concerning the Ark's removal to Zion. Not many are aware that the Ark rested in David's royal city of Bethlehem. Psalm 132:1-7 makes this clear.
O Lord, remember in David's favor his extreme self-denial, how he swore to the Lord, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, 'I will not enter my house, nor will I mount my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids until I find a place for the Lord, an abode [mishkanot- footstool] for the Mighty One of Jacob.' We heard it was in Ephrath [Ephratha - Bethlehem] we came upon it in the region of Jaar. (Hebrew Study Bible)
The parallelism of "Ephrath" and the "region of Jaar" require that we investigate further. Jaar is spelled Jair in the New Jerusalem Bible (p. 424) and Jaare-oregim in the Hebrew Study Bible (p. 660). The latter means "Jaare the weaver" and II Samuel 21:19 states that Jaare was from Bethlehem. So it appears that the Ark was guarded by the priests of Bethlehem until David was able to have it moved to "the city of David," a 12-acre ridge south of the Temple Mount (II Sam. 5:9). This area was inhabited continuously for 2000 years before David.
In place of the "region of Jaar" the King James Version has "we found it in the fields of the wood" and the New Jerusalem Bible has "Forest-Fields" instead of "fields of the wood." Both versions fail to trace Jaar's hometown in Scripture and miss this important clue concerning the Ark's resting place in Bethlehem.

I think the Ark was a story...no ship could hold all the creatures of the earth, especially the whales (and my sister-in-law) and fish. But it was a GOOD story, to teach a lesson.
There WERE huge floods at that time, shown on cave drawings in other parts of the world...must have been a very WET year.
If you're going to start "thinking" this or that part of the Bible is just a story, then you're going to be on very shaky ground indeed. How are you going to know what to believe?
All the creatures of the earth were not on the ark. Two of each were, and seven, I believe, of sacrificial animals (could be wrong there).
We tend to limit God, but if it was His will to save Noah's family and all of those animals, and it was, then it was perfectly possible. Think of it this way....the greatest miracle of all, His creation of the heavens and the earth, had already happened. From there, it's a small thing indeed to shut some animals up in a boat.
This is about the OTHER “ark,” the Ark of the Covenant, not Noah’s ark.
Oh, THAT ark. Haha. Yes, that was the important one.
I remember hearing all kinds of tales as to what happened to it. The wood would have rotted a LONG time ago but the commandments were in stone, so they were/are somewhere.

The ark was made of Acacia wood which is very dense and rot resistant. Apply cedar oil to it about once or twice a year and it will last forever just like stone.
Certain fungi are what rots wood. Cedar oil kills fungi and otherwise won’t let it penetrate to the wood. If the wood is very dense as Acacia wood is, then the fungi have a hard time penetrating. Combination of very dense wood with a preservative like Cedar oil keeps fungi out.
Wow, you got to be kidding! Why would the Noah's ark need to hold whales? They were surrounded by water. Perhaps you think Noah was a proto-Japanese? And the fish, yeah let's put fish on board and then we can dip buckets to fill all the aquariums we'll need. You're right, ark wasn't big enough. Probably ran out of gopher wood after the whales ate all the gophers. Catholic right?
