They’re probably still mad about the dust-up at Big Bear and are taking it out on anyone who crosses them.

I have a solution to reduce the killings by police. Just require them to abide by the same Rules of Engagement that our troops have to follow when dealing with the Taliban. If they do that the only people getting killed will be the police.

So it is okay with you that the driver was using his car as a weapon? I don’t really care what they did to the idiot when he didn’t STOP! How many people could he have killed? He did hurt several people after having hit them with his car.

Don’t run from police if you want to live. Probably on drugs (no one ever died from pot /s).

They have to guarantee that they get to go home safe to their families every night... so shooting first makes sense.

If you want a career bereft of danger, choose something else, like stocking shelves at walmart.

"The Rodney King car chase was much worse than this one ."

Probably was worse. Looks like they learned from Rodney.

Does anybody even remember the name of that poor dental hygienist from Connecticut who was gunned down near the white house with her baby in the back seat about the time of the government shut down? I rest my case.

Miriam Carey. I remember because what happened to her sent shock waves through me. It was cold-blooded murder.

And nothing was mentioned of her again in the DC press except to say she had postpartum depression. No outrage, no pundit infighting, no candlelit services. Her body was removed and that was that.

Chilling.

Hold up just a second folks, the guy led police on a chase for over an hour at high speed through residential and city streets, then he tboned an innocent driver into a fire hydrant, then he tried again to drive away before exiting the vehicle and trying to run...

This guy had clearly demonstrated wanton disregard for human life, I’m not jumping ugly that he was taken down with lethal force, lord knows what this guy would do next... He literally seconds before harmed another person without any care...

Want to pick a case for abuse of power, this is a lousy case.

They probably already identified the driver, after an hour.

If that is the case, then THE COPS are responsible for the injured serfs in the other vehicle.

The police don't get to have a roid-rage hissy fit if someone refuses to obey their orders.

Of course, if they DID know who the guy was (which is VERY probable), we'll never hear it from them...

It is “now OK to execute suspects if they’re angry with them”.....

Why not? Seems odumbo’s folks are doing this rather frequently as did the Clinton’s.

Not only is our gubmint out of control, the whole damn nation seems headed that way. Best we all lock and load.

And the punishment for this is execution by firing squad without a trial? What country do you live in? Pit the car, take out its tires, road block, even shoot while in the act of driving, sure... but gun him down after the chase is over and he has exited his "weapon"?! You're ok with this?

You're right. Why bother spending money on a bunch of courts and stuff.

Just let the police take care of sentencing & execution.

Watched the chase from start to finish, after he crashed his car, he stumbled out of the car and tried to walk away and they just shot him, for no reason..he wasn’t pointing anything at them or even running towards them, he was just walking..yes he was acting very strangely obviously since throughout the chase he was bouncing up and down in his car and driving like an idiot, once but the chase was over there was absolutely no reason to shoot him

So shoot him in the knee. That’ll take him down and then we can proceed to due process. Or shoot out the tires. Or have a police chopper drop on top of him. A hail of bullets isn’t the only method available.

Not only did he not stop, HE WRECKED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE just seconds before and then tried to drive away before deciding to try to flee on foot, the guy was a menace, he is no victim. Where this leftist mentality is coming from on Free Republic is beyond me.

This guy showed ongoing and repeated disregard for human life, I hope whoever was in that other car he hit won’t spend the rest of their life in a wheelchair or worse yet, had their life ended with this guys actions.

This guy is dead because of his actions, spinning a criminal as the victim belongs on DU.

Exactly!

The reckless driver was identified as Brian Newt Beaird, 51

John — who lives in Central California — said his brother contacted family during the chase.

Authorities said they tried to pull Beaird over for driving recklessly.

“He just kept saying,’Why are they after me? I didn’t do anything.’ My dad had tried to tell him to pull over.”

Beaird led police on a wild chase for an hour.

He eventually crashed into a fire hydrant and another car and the chase came to an end.

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/12/15/brother-of-corvette-driver-killed-by-police-after-pursuit-speaks-out/

John Beaird does not believe deadly force was warranted or justified.

“This could have been handled differently. He was just scared. And I don’t know what was going through his mind at the time but I hope that if these people did act inappropriately, that there will be justice down the line.”

So much for non lethal force.

Damn, how many rounds did the guy get hit with?

Should he run from the cops...no.
Should he smash up the town...no.
Should the cops open fire on someone clearly not aggressively moving toward the officers...Hell no.

If someone was observed shooting another person,
then dropped his weapon and surrendered,
are the police justified in shooting him?

Doubt it.

And this guy had left his car.
