People with health insurance sour on ObamaCare, poll finds

People with health insurance are unhappy with the rollout of ObamaCare, and many of them blame the law for changes in their policies, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll.

The online survey of 1,367 adults found political challenges for President Obama and congressional Democrats among the population they said would largely be unaffected by the new healthcare law – the 85 percent of people who already have health insurance.

Nearly half of those who already had coverage through their employer or the private market said their policies would be changing in 2014; 69 percent said they would be paying higher premiums, while nearly three in five said they would face heftier deductibles or copayments.

The poll underscores the political damage Obama is facing over his claim that “if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it,” which turned out not to be true for millions of people who received letters from insurance companies informing them that their policy would not be offered in 2014 because it did not conform to regulations under the Affordable Care Act.

Eleven percent of respondents in the poll said their insurance policy was being discontinued, while 14 percent said coverage for their spouses would be restricted or scrapped.

The poll was taken in early December, just after the administration said its fixes had resulted in a website that worked for “the vast majority of users.”

Overall, more than 60 percent disapproved of Obama’s handling of healthcare, although Democrats retained an advantage over Republicans on the issue, 32 percent to 22 percent. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Well, a stupefied country is going to learn the virtues of ceasing to be stupefied, very quickly.

Yes. I dare say a few conservatives will rise like the Phoenix from this massive liberal mugging.

Could be a LOT not just a few.

You don’t mess around with the world’s best health care system. Not if you don’t want your fingers figuratively chopped off.

That gives Satan too much credit, IMHO.

I am a Spirit watcher and as best I can see it, God is escalating this thing for a reason. Even the welfare set won’t be able to ignore the drastic difference between Before and After. It’s only because of that robust private sector that we could have this lavish a medical welfare.

But it can’t come alone. There’s going to need to be a renewed consciousness of God as well. (And I think there will be.)

You got what most of you voted for. What’s the complaint? 2008 hope and change should have told you something and you believed it in 2012. Live with it. Miss Romney yet?

Nobody who really hates this socialized medicine misses Mitt Romneycare in any way.

Those who voted for him still voted for this plan since he ushered it in on a smaller scale in Massachusetts, and was all set to take credit for it on a national scale. Mitt was open about this.

If anyone wanted Mitt Romney because “a third party candidate can’t win” then they wanted socialized medicine “because a third party candidate can’t win.”

One hundred percent of people - no exceptions - who disparaged others for voting for a candidate against socialized medicine (write in or third party by necessity) is now getting something they campaigned for and thoroughly deserve.

My company's "open enrollment" is in June... So our current plan had to conform to the tentative ObamaCare regulations... BEFORE Barky decided to break the law by delaying the company implementation. I actually had someone I know (he parrots his mother's public school teacher babblings) that I should love ObamaCare, and that I don't know what I'm talking about, because it has been delayed. I explained to this booger eating moron that I HAD been hurt by ObamaCare, and that thanks to it, my "gold plated, cadillac" health insurance plan had to be cancelled. The company I work for, as good and generous as they are to me, couldn't afford to pay an additional 40% tax on my health benefits, over what it already costs them!

Thanks to ObamaCare, my deductable went from $500 to $2000, and maximum out of pocket expense from $1500 to $4000 a month. But I guess I get "free" pap-smear exams (I'm a guy) and "free" colonoscopies (I don't have a colon!)

Of course, the word "free" is debatable!

Mark

Do I understand you to mean that most of us on FR voted for Obama? I doubt that very much!

the 85 percent of people who already have health insurance...and of course the 15% who didn't have insurance could have had it - if they were willing to pay for it, to follow Zeke Emmanuel's logic in insisting that those who liked their doctors could keep them if they were willing to pay for them......
