Even the wait staff at big eating places do not make even min wage. Tips are supposed to pick up the slack.
Our Military do not make Min wage. And they lay their lives on the line every day.
So why should a burger flipper with no skills whatsoever make more than Min Wage? Worst thing could happen to a burger flip is some hot grease.
GIVE IT A BREAK, you don’t have enough education to make more money!
The “fix” for that is a grumbling belly.
The only thing that will happen is that McD will automate like Aldi food stores, stockers and 1 cashier and a manager. and get rid of these under educated people. Who will end up on welfare. Which is their goal any way.
They are the big idea thinkers not the doers.
Heck, look how their website development project went.
The customers would all get food they never ordered and it would cost 3X as much as now.
Some years back during the Bush admin, a libhole in my office was railing against gas prices and big-oil using all the typical lefty clap-trap. As she was prattling on, she had a cup of Starbucks in her hand. I asked her if gas at $3 (or whatever it was at the time) was such an outrage, why didnt she have a problem paying over $12 a gallon for coffee? What about the evils of big-coffee? The silence was deafening. I stepped back before the logic made her head explode.
Liberals like money, too. More specifically, they like their OWN money. It's only when they're spend other people's money that they're liberal.
Lefties think that all businesses exploit their employees. Their end goal is complete takeover of all of the means of production.
exactly.
a minimum wage hike has a domino effect through the economy on wages and prices and thus inflation.
Everything will cost more and the minimum wage people will be in the same boat they are now.
Everyone pushing for a higher minimum wage is actually just pushing for higher inflation. And you know who he real losers are with high inflation? those who are retired who already made their money and are now living off a fixed income.
In Venezuela they would just, “nationalize” McDonald’s.
To me, it appears that many, if not most, of the FF workers' jobs could be automated. I'm thinking - specifically - anything customer-facing, or counter-related. What do you think?
I say this because $15/hr is what I'd expect a front-line, entry-level automation service tech to make. A good handful of minimum wage counter staff could be replaced with automation (touchscreens, CC swipes, etc) and a single tech to make sure that it stays working. Libs should be careful with what they wish for.
Or, if they DID need to pay $15, they would not hire schlubs. They would only hire people worth $15/hr. The schlubs would be jobless and have to go on welfare -- which is exactly what the Dems want.
They want a business to pay workers $15/hr unless it is owned by a lieberal.
Yeah, I had similar conversation when gas first hit $3 but pointed out that with profit margin of 7% it meant that if you subtracted away all of their profit, it’d only cut the price by 21 cents per gal, which was actually less than the gas taxes.
I had the same head exploding threat.
I agree. At some point it makes economic sense. I think you can dump a certain number of “order takers” when they economic themselves out of a job. When I go to a grocery store, lowes, home depot.... or if I’m really brave Walmart.... I always default to the self service / swipe the card checkout.
That makes a good operational definition: Liberal - somebody who desires to be generous with other people's money.
“When I go to a grocery store, lowes, home depot.... or if Im really brave Walmart.... I always default to the self service / swipe the card checkout.”
Same here.... unless I want to pick up some beer, in which case CA law forces me to use a living, breathing cashier.
Hence the reason the answer to the bottom line of this question is NEVER to lower the tax burden on the business, or individuals, in question.
Sure, but who’s gonna spend $20 for a Quarter Pounder ?
Well using your numbers, if labor is 20 percent, doubling the minimum wage to $15 raises labor on a $1 burger from 20 cents to 40 cents, and the burger now costs $1.20, or 20 percent more.
And I assume you may sell less burgers at this price, skewing your baseline expense percentages.
...or, the burger joint hires fewer people, and expects its employees to run around like decapitated chickens, to keep labor costs down.
