Trip to the Rio Grande turns sour after a traffic stop escalates into a wild scene involving a high speed chase and gunfire.
What started as a routine traffic stop quickly descended into a maniacal scene with a 14-year old kid rushing a cop, a dangerous high-speedchase, a cop smashing a window with his baton and another firing at the back of a minivan full of kids....
The heated incident began outside Taos where Oriana Ferrell was pulled over for going 71mph in a 55 mph zone having travelled to New Mexico from Memphis for an educational trip. Looks like they learned a lesson or two about cops.

Well this has all been educational.
I am off to lunch.
I hope I don’t get pulled over for eating something while driving.
Heck, I’ll probably get pulled over for violating some Obamacare code that prohibits me from eating dead animals.
I hope I don’t get shot for inadvertently driving over the speed limit while eating a dead animal between two pieces of white bread.
>> By golly you are right! No seat belts!?
That’s right, Sherlock. It’s not that it’s against the law, it’s that the suggestions about tack strips and running them off the road and such will injure or kill those unbelted kids as surely as any stray round.
And not just one of ‘em. All of ‘em.
That’s what you’d rather see?
multiple is accurate and how they would describe it if she had shot at them
keep making excuses for the police state though
Ah, the last, feeble flicker of your contorted illogic.
Nurture it carefully. It’s all you got left on this one, FRiend.
Well no actually I’m fine. You’re the one arguing that it makes sense for cops to shoot at the tires of a fleeing minivan because apparently everything else they do is more risky then using deadly force.
Go nurture that sport
“Pay now or contest it with a judge immedidiately” is typical of robber baron one-horse towns abusing the law. If they catch you at night or on the weekend and the court is not in session your choice is “pay now or sit in jail until the judge can see you.” Evil.
>> Youre the one arguing that it makes sense for cops to shoot at the tires of a fleeing minivan because apparently everything else they do is more risky then using deadly force.
LOL! Without realizing it, you are too.
good grief, you argue like a teenager
Giving chase is one thing. Shooting at a fleeing vehicle is something entirely different.
>> you argue like a teenager
You argue like a cross between the village idiot and his stubborn jackass, but I didn’t call you on that. I just kept presenting factual, logical argument after factual, logical argument — right up until your last gasp “continue to make excuses for the police state” cheap shot.
So I gave up casting pearls before swine; now I’m just having some fun with the village idiot.
Are we supposed to think ricochets and hitting random "other" things are any less of a problem when "shooting to kill" versus shooting out tires? I see no claim for that. It would seem the 20% would apply across the board. In the case of the van (or the DC barricade rammer) that police were "right on top of the situation at least at some point. As a cross-section, tires present at least as well as a car driver kill shot.
When innocents such as those in the van or a car-seated infant are present, and the likelihood of being able yet to chase down the vehicle is still present, I very much appreciate a cop that would loose several shots on tires, away from the innocents, especially at the fairly close ranges we know of for these two incidents.

It just looks like he is aiming low and left. I can’t be certain though.
I’ve taken to placing ‘back order’ orders with Midway ... you get the shipment first when ammo comes in. Potterfield sold American Eagle 38 grain HP 400 count bricks (their boxes are now 40 rounds) for $19.95 the last purchase I made a month ago. A nickel per round is still reasonable, when you can get it. I have stopped buying anything from the Cheaper Than Dirt scammers.
knows she has drug paraphernalia
*****************************
OK smartie pants ,, so when you get pulled over and the cop sees an empty 12oz. aluminum can on the floor of your car or a cigarette lighter or maybe even (gasp) an empty sandwich bag ... you’re going to just let them put the handcuffs on and you won’t fight the “drug paraphernalia” charges because that’s what all that stuff is .. doesn’t matter if that’s what you use it for or not ,, just having anything that can be used in that way is a crime ... YOU CRIMINAL!
Apparently she had to either pay the fine on the spot or go see a judge immediately to contest it.

Had a thug with mirrored glasses a badge and a gun do that to me in Georgia back in the 70’s ... just another armed robber if you ask me .. I would have no problem if the woman killed them both dead and left them in the road.
Where do we get these cops now? To even think that such a thing was ethical.
? say whaaa?
Oh Hell, one of the cops spotted a nice dog at the first stop, when their designated dog-shooter arrived they then had to shoot, damn the kids.
NuevoMex cops act too much like Federales.
