ObamaCare is a "category five political hurricane" for Democrats, the chairman of the House GOP's campaign arm said Friday.
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) said he's long believed ObamaCare would be the driving force of the 2014 elections.
"Now it has become a category five political hurricane," he told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast. "It is not just causing havoc in certain regions of the country. It is ripping apart every region of the country, from tiny hamlets to towns to major cities. People are finding out confusion, chaos, cancellations, cost increases all of which were predicted."
Walden predicted his party has "the ability to net gain seats in 2014" because of the program's botched rollout and ongoing struggles. He also said he believed the healthcare law would continue to founder through the next election.
Walden ripped President Obama for lying to the voters, and said the result would be a tough year at the polls for Democrats.
"The American people feel very misled, and a bond of trust has been broken," he said. "When you lose that trust it's a very difficult thing to get back."
Polls show that ObamaCare's calamitous rollout has badly damaged Obama and Democrats and completely erased the advantage they had following the government shutdown, which hurt Republicans.
Democrats predict those numbers will flip again if Republicans shut down the government again in January, when the next fight over government funding looms.
Walden predicted the GOP would "work through" internal divisions on how to best attack government spending, but said his party should avoid another government shutdown.
He also mocked Democrats who have been critical of the Obama administration's rollout of the healthcare law, pointing out that most of them backed the law and comparing them to bankrobbers who offer to return the money they stole after they're caught. He predicted other parts of ObamaCare would prove unpopular with the voters as they're implemented as well.
"ObamaCare will live on with the cost increases, the huge chaos and cancellations and I think that will be the dominant issue because that affects everyone," he said. "When people figure out they can no loungers see their doctor, that will be the next less-than-truthful promise."
And it’s still off shore. No one has had to pay an Obamacare premium, co-pay or deductible or tried to get treatment through it yet.
More like a tornado for the nation.
With GOPe in charge they’ll find a way to take that political advantage and screw it all up. Leave well enough alone. Let the Democrats implode all over themselves. Of course we know the compassionate RINOS won’t let that happen.
A lot of the RINOs are really Democrat and believers in “democracy” but think they are too sophisticated to admit reality.
Since it is now November, technically it is not a “political hurricane,” but rather a “political superstorm.”
"Yes, We can, can, can. Yes, we can, can, can."
Wake me when it’s instantly fatal for them all.
It boggles the mind when those people on our side try to find consensus with the Dems. When I listen to rantings from Reid, Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and other lefties I don’t see where I can find agreement with them. They are left-wing kooks and fanatics who need to be thrown out of office and nothing else.
But--we'd be negligent if we did not factor in power-crazed Obomba, his minions, the Chi/criminals......not to mention Hillary, and her gargantuan political ambitions.
They've wielded power for sometime--and they won't relinquish power easily.
Will they let a midterm election stand in their way?
Grabbing total power over us seems to be the overarching goal of these Dem/demons.
If the GOP doesnt screw it up November 2014 is lookin like another 2010 with Dems taking another well deserved beating.
After that ??? Anything could happen.
Katrina?
For sure.
His prediction will likely come true - providing Republican “leaders” in Congress are willing to hold the line on some basic truths and hammer them home for the next 11 months. In no particular order:
1. What Obama has done/is now trying to do through executive fiat is what true leaders in the House and Senate were trying to do, was opposed by Obama and Reid and ultimately shut down (a small portion of) the government.
2. Obama’s repeated (apparently successful) attempts to unilaterally amend the ACA, including his most recent dictate regarding reinstatement of cancelled policies and delay of enforcement, are patently unconstitutional and dictatorial in nature.
3. What conservatives have been predicting for three years - the cancellation of policies and increases in premiums and deductibles for everyone who pays for his/her/their own health insurance, has come and is coming to pass. Even well-heeled liberals are chafing at the increased costs and realizing that they are paying for someone else’s health insurance.
4. Finally, only open-market competition and portability can lead to broader availability, greater choice, lower premiums and lower deductibles for health insurance for everyone. “Is the government REALLY the best determinant of the best health care policy for YOU? Do gay men REALLY need OB/GYN coverage? Does everyone need coverage for drug addiction treatment...?”
But, alas, “leaders” like McConnell, McCain and Boehner will continue to applaud Obama’s moves to “fix” Obamacare, while throwing Senators Cruz and Lee and conservatives in the House - those who had it right all the time, under the bus and the Republican Party will continue to prove that it can win once in awhile, but it still can’t lead.
Since Obama’s not an American, maybe we should call it a “political typhoon”.
I would add as #5: Obamacare passed in the dead of the night without one single Republican vote in either house of Congress.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz previewed a new plan to repeal Obamacare and replace it with different health care reforms.
The only way to stop the problems is to admit this idea was fundamentally flawed to begin with, Cruz told Fox News Megyn Kelly. At this point, starting over, stopping Obamacare, is the essence of pragmatism.
Cruzs approach differs from some congressional Republicans and Democrats who are working to pass a bill delaying the Obamacare individual mandate or help Americans keep their current health care plans.
Cruz said that he would release a bill to empower Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines, creating a true national market. Insurance can only be purchased intra-state at present.
In the coming weeks, I intend to layout a plan to provide exactly that, a plan to repeal Obamacare altogether and at the same time expand options for five million-plus people, who have lost their health insurance and 300 million people across this country to expand their options to have affordable, personal, portable health care, Cruz said...........

I am waiting for McCain to go in front of the cameras and state that this is not the time to argue politics when peoples health care is at stake and will offer up some grand bargain which pulls the RAT's asses off of the fire on this
No wonder the GOPe is silent...they are already in the shelters.
It will be great fun as long as we can keep Tokyo Rove’s nose out of our efforts to save America. He’ll be trying to save the GOPe and we’ll be trying to save our country. We HAVE to win!
