Human Rights Group Calls to End Moratorium on Car Impounding

Marchers gathered in front of the East L.A. Sheriff's Station Wednesday morning to protest against what they consider racial profiling in regard to illegal drivers.

Protesers are upset that until a new law goes into effect in January 2015, granting undocumented immigrants driver's licenses, those drivers could still be fined and have their vehicles impounded.

Human rights advocates and California immigrants at Wednesday's protest called for L.A. County to stop impounding vehicles.

Governor Jerry Brown signed the new law, known as AB60, on October 3. It will also make drivers eligible for insurance and training for written and driving tests required by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Illegals want to be allowed to drive without licenses/insurance - untilthe new law kicks in January 2015 and they also demand their vehicles to not be impounded.Maybe they should just abolish all the laws. They want another Mexico where Lawlessness Thrives and illegals can pay bribes to make legal matter go away.

Why not just judge-shop? I’m sure they can find some Clinton, Obama, or even Bush progressive judge to side with them on this.

Wait...what?

You wanted them to be allowed by law to get a license but, there is no responsibility that is part and parcel?

Then what’s the point to having a license?

As it is now, they have $1,500-$2,500 set aside as their personal insurance policy. They recognize their automobile can be impounded and their “personal impound policy”, which they under write themselves, enables them to simply acquire another vehicle within a day.

I know of two illegals who had this happened and told me how they deal with it.

This is total b.s.

We had an issue with this in Seattle because a lot of people here drive other people’s cars or evidently were buying and selling vehicles without transferring title, something I had never heard of til I came out here. Where I come from even the dumbest people know enough to do that. But in Seattle, evidently the borrower would run up tickets and the real owner would be on the hook. And people complained that it discriminated against minorities, not immigrants, just minorities, and the poor.

So a woman writes a letter to one of the papers saying “I’m poor, but Ive never had my car impounded, because I don’t have violations.”( And I’m guessing she doesn’t loan her car to people who run up violations.) What a concept. Don’t break the law and your car won’t get impounded.

As I said, this is total b.s.

If they like driving without insurance they can
keep driving without insurance. Period.
Nobody’s going to take your car away if you like it.

What happens when an illegal who has no insurance crashes into another car? Who pays for the damages?

When they loan their car out I am sure that there is a payment made to them. It sounds like another illegal alien under the radar business.

The uninsured portion of the policy covers it.
