It sounds like it’s going to be The Warriors meets The Taking of Pellam 1-2-3 in NYC after a few years of DeBlasio.

Make for a great movie, but I sure wouldn’t want to live in it.

Hey, Mesta, Brooklyn is fun! Since the Russian influx a dozen years ago, you get to kick the garbage out of your way as you walk down the sidewalks of main thoroughfares in Midwood (one of the Jewish parts). Streets that used to have mostly Jewish shops now have signs in Cyrillic, with Russkie-mob looking types hanging out on street corners smoking their endless cigs--which they then throw onto the sidewalk. And, as an added bonus, the Russkies LOVE pedigreed dogs. And they love to walk them down the street to show off their various expensive pooches. The one thing they don't love is cleaning up after their dogs, so watch where you step.

You'd love Boro Park, which is a misnomer--there ain't anyplace to park! You could see exotic Chassidim in their native dress and be run over by baby carriages on the sidewalk.

But, you could also taste all the Jewish delicacies on 13th Avenue (the main drag in Boro Park), or Avenue J, Avenue M, and Coney Island Avenue in Midwood. There are kosher restaurants of every ilk in Midwood, Boro Park and here in KGH in Queens--Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Israeli, you name it.

C'mon, be brave---visit Brooklyn!

Don’t laugh, but I have been super craving Kosher Salami for over a year. I used to be able to get it at two of the bigger grocery outlets here, but no longer. I looked all over the web trying to find somewhere that ships it and a Brooklyn deli was one, but it would cost over a hundred dollars just for a two pound roll to be shipped here. My heart was broken and I can’t make the trip to Squirrel Hill where they still have actual kosher beef and poultry.
If I knew someone who lived there, I might be able to get some sent to me, but right now, I am SOL. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

There is a suit by the NAACP against the science high schools. They are pure meritocracy right now. Stuyvesant, the hardest to get into, has an incoming class of about 800, or which about 600 are Asian. How dare he try to ruin things for these kids?

What about Katz’s deli, on Canal Street? Didn’t their slogan used to be “Send a salami to your boy in the Army”?

I wonder if the local Chabad can get it for you. I am positive they make sure their Chabad houses in the hinterlands have ample kosher foods. Ask your local Chabad house for a connection to get your salami.

Over a hundred bucks to ship a salami to you? That is hard to believe! You live on Mars??

Most of the kids I see wandering the halls when they should be in class are clients of the NAACP. Most of the kids I see studying in the library are Asian. Who has a better chance of passing entry exams for elite science high schools and maintaining the high grades to stay there? The NAACP is always trying to get various entities to lower their standards so that NAACP clientele can meet them—fire department entrance exams, police department entrance exams, etc. Should we all be forced to go down to their level?

Oh sorry. It’s on Houston Street, not Canal. It’s $16 but it might not be kosher. Doesn’t say kosher on the web page.

We fought this battle already when Fernandez was chancellor and Dinkins was mayor and they wanted to close all the science high schools or make them ordinary. The Democrats are always coming back to fight the same battles all over again when they think the time might be right, as Coulter has pointed out about health care. They are RELENTLESS!!!

The salami was only 13.50 but it required next day air.
UPS Next Day Air® ($65.27)
And the floor disappeared out from under me.

I am checking this out real close. It doesn’t say Kosher anywhere, but it has a page that says learn Yiddish. I am going to call them.

They don’t seem to need refrigeration, as they are always hanging about for days if not weeks in the room-temperature store. All the stores that sell Jewish-style salami do that, not just Katz’s. In fact I seem to remember that some people like the dried-out ones better.

That’s what floored me about the overnight requirement.
Hebrew National Kosher Salami (Medium)
THIS PRODUCT REQUIRES OVERNIGHT SHIPPING!
$13.50

Katz never showed up on the searches and I spent literally hours trying to find kosher salami somewhere. Now back to regular programming already in progress.

I live directly across the river. I’m in the city almost every day. This IS what the people there want. I have relatives in the city who want this, some whom will even be more than happy to be mugged as long as they’re not hurt too badly... First of all, subconsciously they think they deserve it (and that we ALL deserve it), and it will also give them more reason to blame the “tea party” for making that poor person do that to them. It really is insane. Politics are a mess on my side of the river too, but not like this. What’s funny is when you talk to the people who will vote for this, they can never stop telling you how sophisticated they are.
