The police chief who was suspended just for visiting Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio will get his money back.

Grantville, GA Chief Doug Jordan was suspended for a week without pay when his bosses learned that he'd spent time with the "controversial" Maricopa County Sheriff during his vacation in Arizona, as we reported.

But after Sheriff Joe ignited national outrage against the board members who suspended him, the Grantville City Council voted on Monday to rescind the suspension of Chief Doug Jordan and pay him for the time he missed.

The City Council said that Jordan was supposed to inform city leaders about the meeting with the man called the "Toughest Sheriff in America." Arpaio is known for his strong stance on illegal immigration and drugs. Two underhanded Democrat council members took advantage of the absence of the mayor and two other members to sneak in the suspension.

Members of the Fraternal Order of Police were among those who packed Monday's City Council meeting to voice opposition to Jordan's suspension.

"When I'm on vacation, I am free to associate with whoever I want to unless it's a hate group," said Randy Robertson of the Fraternal Order of Police. "If somebody's out there doing something and associating with whoever they want to, I hate to tell you this, but it's none of your business."
Grantville Mayor Jim Sells, who opposed the suspension, said the he received hundreds of emails from people across the country criticizing the council's actions. In an interview with Stand With Arizona, Grantville confirmed that dozens of those emails mentioned SWA's original story as the reason for their emails.

Sheriff Joe has weighed in on the controversy. He posted FOX 5's story on his Facebook page. Jordan returned to duty last week. The suspension will be removed from his record and he will be paid for the time he missed.

"I'm ecstatic about it. I'm glad it happened, of course," Jordan said. "Hopefully, it is over. We will start enforcing our laws like we talked about: harder and tougher. That is what we're going to do. Jordan said that while it's been a difficult couple of weeks for his family, he has been overwhelmed by the number of supportive emails. He said he's gotten more than 300 emails.

Jordan said he was stunned that he was suspended, regardless of the political bias of the two councilmen who orchestrated it. He also thanked Sheriff Joe for his help:

“I was very shocked. Who in the world would want to punish law enforcement for doing their job? Wanting to better the community?” said Chief Jordan. “Sheriff Joe is of course known as the toughest sheriff in the country, he’s all about law enforcement. He’s a legend.”

"Amen, sanity is restored."

Not necessarily restored, never will be with Libs, but at least put in check, this time. More insanity will follow. We will fight the good fight.

In Barry Soetoro’s “fundamentally transformed” Obamanation, it is now illegal to “spend time” with a “controversial”, super patriot, American?! Is this in the Constitution somewhere? I seemed to have missed it.

Any thought of a recall election for the City Council?

Our Lord has spoken once again. He has been extremely busy the past few days in showing us story by story that he still watches over us. He has not yet abandoned US. Praises to God in the Highest. On my knees giving thanks.

Correct, not necessaryly restored.

When people violate such major precepts of our republic, like the freedom to associate, they need be taken out to set an example to others to not engage is such activities.

This injustice was a step way too far. Very glad it’s been righted.

One of the first acts should be to arrest and book these city council members and confine them with the perverts and murderers at the county jail. While there they might get in touch with their inner liberal (or get seriously dead from it).

"This injustice was a step way too far. Very glad it’s been righted."

It will be righted when the Grantville City Council members who originally suspended the police chief are recalled or fired from their office. And if they do not publicly apologize, they should be declared "undesirable" and urged to leave the city, preferably the state or country, and never return. They may be few, but that would be less leftist low-lifes to worry about.

The chief still should sue for the damage done to his professional reputation by the wrongful dismissal.

Thank you for pointing that out. You’re absolutely right. Those that committed, enabled, and abetted the atrocity must be purged to fully finish the job of righting this wrong.

Meanwhile, DHS official Mohamed Elibiary says THIS is on Twitter and all is well:

Here's why Elibiary should IMMEDIATELY LOSE HIS JOB and the Police Chief did no wrong..

1) The Police Chief merely visited a Sheriff on active duty.

2) While Elibiary claims his Twitter account is PERSONAL and not under official business, HE IS A PUBLIC OFFICIAL WHOSE IDEOLOGY IS SYMPATHETIC TO JIHADISTS. It's not WHERE he said what he said, it's WHAT he said that should cost him his job. The DHS is supposedly s 'security' function that protects America from Islamic extremists. Elibiary's comment is not only WRONG, it's insurgent and insurgents should be FIRED if they think America is an "Islamic country". DISGUSTING that ANY American official would say that, Twitter or otherwise.

FUME!

Now, terminate those who caused all of this AND deport them.

Freedom of association (peaceable assembly) is now under fire by the left. The only persons’ whose right to freely associate is curtailed by law are individuals on probation (other felons, police contact) or have a lawful restraining order against them issued by a judge.

Actually the statement released on the officer’s behalf isn’t quite accurate. He can associate with hate-groups if he damned well pleases. Cops are civilians. Civilians are protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and it doesn’t say everyone... except what might be deemed hate-groups at the time of interpretation of this amendment.

Morons like this have no business being on any city council period. I think Sheriff Joe should be given the power to investigate their sorry socialist democratic rear ends and then have them all fired.
