US Chamber boss: Ted Cruz needs to 'work on' keeping quieter
The Hill ^ | October 21, 2013 | Ben Goad

The head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday likened Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to a tennis player, questioning whether the GOP firebrand has the necessary political agility to keep charging the net.

Cruz has come under fire from fellow congressional Republicans for his refusal to drop efforts to delay or dial back the president’s landmark healthcare law as part of a budget deal. The president of Washington’s largest business lobby appeared to sympathize with the frustration.

“I sort of think about him as a tennis player,” Tom Donohue told reporters Monday.

“You know, if your going to rush the net all the time, you better have a lot of motion to the left and the right, and he hasn’t proved that to me yet,” Donohue said, stressing that he wanted to work with the freshman senator.

Asked whether the business community wouldn’t rather Cruz keep his mouth shut, Donohue said, “that might be one thing we could work on.”

The quip was part of wide ranging remarks Donohue gave during a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor.

Donohue laid out the Chamber’s post-shutdown priorities, which include tackling entitlement reform, fighting components of the Obama administration’s climate initiative and passing a sweeping immigration bill.

He said the latter effort, which enjoys support from both business groups and labor, presents an opportunity for Washington to move past the ugliness of the budget impasse that took hundreds of thousands of federal workers off the job and shone a light on Congress’ dysfunction.

“There’s still an appetite to get comprehensive immigration reform done this year,” he said. “We’re really hot after it.”

Donohue was noncommittal about the Chamber’s plans for the 2014 midterm elections, when scores of Tea Party congressional incumbents could face challenges from fellow Republicans more aligned with the party establishment.

Still, he said, “you can be sure that we’ll be very vigorous in the House.”

Donohue said there are plenty of opportunities for conservatives to change the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare. But efforts to do away with the bill entirely would not succeed, he said.

He repeatedly urged Congress to reform entitlements as part of ongoing budget talks, warning that federal government outlays would increase by $2.5 trillion over the next decade, if reform is not achieved.

“Who knows if these talks will succeed,” he questioned. “But they damn well better.”

Because Soros is behind them for global money.

There was a story up on the Chamber and Soros groups coming down on Cruz and company, but not sure if it was DRUDGE or Hotair.

It has started.

Hey Donohue! Have you EVER come close to getting an EIGHT MINUTE standing ovation like Ted Cruz at any event you were speaking at?

Why is the Chamber pushing”immigration reform”?

Wage suppression via increased H-1B visas for tech workers and continuing illegal immigration for the non-skilled.

Cruz doesn’t have to keep quiet but he would benefit from the recent words of Pope Francis to not focus on just one thing.

What is the point of the word “commerce” if someone speaks against competition and product protection brands?

Or is this just going to turn into socialist corporate welfare, with a government breeding program the Nazis did it in their gay ways?

Dear Chamber of Commerce and the Honorable Mr. Donohue:

We have seen the error of our ways and have decided to support you in your quest for comprehensive immigration reform. We have also notified our congress critters, especially the democrats, that we will support any endeavor to raise the taxes of all Chamber of Commerce members to 75% and any executive working for a member of the Chamber of Commerce to 80%. I'm sure you will be very glad to have us finally on your side.

Love, love, love

The American taxpayers

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is an enemy of America.

If you are a member, or belong to a local affiliated group, RESIGN, and tell them why. Do not participate in ANY current or future events or fundraisers for your CofC and tell all your friends as well. SEPARATE from the national CofC and rename and reorient your group away from these treasonous bastards who want to replace our great nation with a Third World cesspool in order to pad their own profits with slave labor.

Why is the Chamber pushing”immigration reform”?

Because establishment GOPe/progressives want the exact same things their Dim/progs want...amnesty...with payoffs from globalists.

It's confirmation, to me, that the GOP has no desire to ever take complete control in 2-3 or 3-3 branches, again. The amnestied hispanics will NEVER become a voting bloc for the GOP.

The McConnell's/McShame's/Chamber of Commerce lobbyists like their cushy payback jobs in DC and are more than happy to be the party NOT in power...so long as the $$ comes in.

Treasonous b@stards, all.

Immigration reform is not about charity, it is, as a Hondurean friend told me, based in the belief that A,ericans are not a superior race, just the way the Nazis sought it.

Lazy liberals are brainwashed by their feelings of strength while living in modern niceties. They like to breed strong race dogs like the Nazis and play fantasy football. Once the economy crashes and reality of their frailty hits, they drink the cool aid and whine for support of weaknesses and the poor.

It is all set up in their language of moralizing us about poor mexicans on the one hand and turning them into leaf blower landscaping super heros on the other.

All in all it is slavery slavery. We have to be slaves of liberal diseases such as gay Stds, but they also need their super mexican slaves.

That's why his constituents sent him there, because they want him to "work on being quieter."

Corporations LOVE socialism, it keeps out their competition.

Businesses hate competition, and will go running to government to keep it out.

Why is it that only OUTSPOKEN Conservatives are the ones that need to shut their mouth and find their seat? Didn’t see them try to tell McCain to sit down in the corner when they were calling him the “Maverick”!

NOT ONCE during all of the name calling by Pelosi and Reid did I hear ANYONE in the media to tell them that they should refrain from the name calling and shut up.

Seems to me that the progressives (or whatever they want to be called) NEVER back down after they find their next target to go after. They do not rest until they get their legislation. So why must WE back off?

NO!!! We will not back off any more!

Uneducated Mexicans will not make America stronger. They already take many jobs blacks used to do but no longer need to because welfare pays better. And Mexicans are a drain on healthcare. I don’t see an upside to illegals flooding America.
