Level3 communications has been having root DNS and routing issues all weekend. It’s possible that your web requests are timing out.

Haven’t used IE for years.
There’s a reason it is referred to not-so-affectionately as “Internet Exploder.”

I shouldn’t, but that was a thought too.
I’ll try running my antivirus.
Thanks

Unfortunately, some internal applications require IE 8 be used ... it’s a PITA to maintain, and Firefox (not w/o its own faults) is the default.

I don't understand all the hate IE gets. I've tried google chrome and firefox, and can't say I notice any difference in performance whatsoever. So I use IE, because I've always used it and the layout is more familiar to me.
People always tell me that chrome and firefox both blow IE out of the water -- maybe I'm missing something that wouldn't slip by a "professional" internet user...?

I found a surefire way to fix IE forever.
Use Firefox.

I’m seeing some slowness. DRUDGE takes ~20 seconds to paint, and the Curiosity raw image site comes up blank, with no complaints or errors.

I was going to say that the main site http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl, came up a little slow, but just now I got the blank treatment there, too. ‘Course, that’s “.gov”, but it seemed OK yesterday.
I’m on IE9

I started using Chrome months ago and love it! Puts IE in the gutter...much faster and overall have not had a single problem with it...unlike IE which burped more than a new born baby!

I don't understand all the hate IE gets. I've tried google chrome and firefox, and can't say I notice any difference in performance whatsoever. So I use IE, because I've always used it and the layout is more familiar to me. IE seems to run fast enough and is pretty secure these days. Sometimes too secure as many usual transactions are automatically blocked and it's hard to figure out how to get the browser to allow certain secure transactions without going through a series of "i really insist" transactions as the browser stops things from happening. Do you know how to tell it to stop getting in the way? I occasionally use it, but FF has become my browser of choice again.

Old friend of mine coder, had his own hospital billing company, told me to get away from IE as all the hackers try to exploit it. Went to Firefox and Chrome. Chrome faster, Firefox has more toys. And it depends on what programs or services I am using as to which browser I use. Only use IE for windows automatic updates or to fetch a driver I need. Just my .02 Good luck
