ObamaCare website creating mess for insurance companies [Boehner circulates damning WSJ report]

ObamaCare's online marketplace is creating a mess for insurance companies by approving error-ridden applications, according to a report.

Among the small number of people who have successfully purchased coverage, many have filed duplicate enrollments, misreported family members or left data fields empty, insurers told The Wall Street Journal.

The defective sign-ups are the latest in a series of mounting problems for healthcare.gov, the online enrollment portal created so that millions could purchase health plans.

Every day since its Oct. 1 rollout, the site has been dogged by both traffic and software problems that have prevented nearly all users from shopping for health insurance.

The flawed data eceived by insurance companies brings the issues to a new level and underscores the challenge facing federal health officials as they seek to repair the site.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) circulated the Wall Street Journal report Friday morning as Republicans began to turn their focus away from this week's fiscal negotiations and back toward ObamaCare's rocky rollout.

GOP lawmakers have vowed to redouble their efforts at investigating and overseeing the law's implementation now that the fight over government funding and the debt ceiling is over.

Insurers told The Wall Street Journal they have been able so far to manually correct the sign-up errors, sometimes by calling individual applicants.

But this arrangement could prove unsustainable once more users are able to complete the enrollment process.

Federal health officials say they're working around the clock to fix problems on the enrollment site, and are stressing that the first open enrollment period lasts until March.

How could it ever be administered in any way BUT just as half-a#@ed, bogus, ill-conceived and fraudulently as the way it was proposed and FORCED into law!

Yes, you referenced a very good article from National Review Online. This paragraph caught my attention:

"The people I spoke with did all confirm the importance of one other detail in the Times story: that CMS did not hire a general contractor to manage the exchange project but handled that overall technical management task itself. None of the people I spoke with wanted to get into how this decision was made or at what level, but all of them agreed that it was a very bad idea and was at the core of the disaster they have so far experienced.

I have to agree. The biggest blunder of all was the government's failure to put the project in the hands of an experienced team.

It don't believe that the government has personnel experienced in the management of a large and complex software development program like the one required for a functional Obamacare system. They can manage the money up to a point but letting the government guys manage a huge software development program is a recipe for disaster as this case proves.

“After January 1, other Americans are also going to be in for a nasty shock. The IRS is sending a separate form to all taxpayers requiring them to declare what health insurance they carry, what the benefits are, and how long they’ve been enrolled.

It is the IRS who will decide whether or not you’re carrying the proper insurance. If not, taxpayers will be forced to pay the fine. It won’t matter what your insurance company tells you. If the IRS determines you’re not in compliance — tough luck for you.

We’re only finishing the first chapter in the Book of Obamacare. So far, it’s living up to its billing as a horror story.”

Thanks for posting this article. It isn't just the evil WSJ publishing the realities of ObozoScare. Even the left wing USA LIESTODAY called ObozoScare a train wreck: (From USA Today article)I can't believe I'm writing this sentence, but Obamacare's exchanges appear to somehow be more deeply corrupted and broken than previously known. If there were words more impactful than "meltdown" and "trainwreck," I'd use them. Instead, I'll simply present the facts as they continue to come to light. USA Today:

The federal health care exchange was built using 10-year-old technology that may require constant fixes and updates for the next six months and the eventual overhaul of the entire system, technology experts told USA TODAY....Recent changes have made the exchanges easier to use, but they still require clearing the computer's cache several times, stopping a pop-up blocker, talking to people via Web chat who suggest waiting until the server is not busy, opening links in new windows and clicking on every available possibility on a page in the hopes of not receiving an error message. With those changes, it took one hour to navigate the HealthCare.gov enrollment process Wednesday. Those steps shouldn't be necessary, experts said..."The application could be fundamentally flawed," said Jeff Kim, president of CDNetworks, a content-delivery network. "They may be using 1990s technology in 2.0 world." Outsiders acknowledged they can't see the whole system, but they said they feared HHS built a system that will need an expensive overhaul that would cause more headaches for people trying to buy insurance.

Only “hundreds” have been able to sign up for a health care plan at the Obamacare websites. The Wall Street Journal reported:

Okay now we will try the landline # 1-800-318-2596 listed above or 1-800-318-2596 = 1-800-FAU-CKYO.

“Maybe it they had used the insurance companies’ broker networks for signup this wouldn’t have happened!

Possible reason why not:

1. People could find out very quickly on a simple search what their basic new costs would be. This would drive away most people.

2. There would no need hire Occupy people, Acorn People and other low life to be navigotors.

Of course, they didn’t want to lose control of the data and process.
