Okay, First off I wrote this mainly as a thought exercise and then fleshed it out a bit. It's a pretty gruesome scenario and although I think it's a possible one, I just don't think it's a probable one. It relies on total control of all communications and information and with Ham radios or even CB's some word will get out in time for the un-visited communities to hide their weapons and food supplies to keep them from being 'donated'.

And then there is the foreign press, they would be all over something like this, if only to say 'naughty, naughty' to the Government. The Armed forces overseas would have to be totally disarmed and interned to prevent them from 'doing something'. Things like that, it's just too big a plan to keep on track.

But with all of that being said, it makes a person like me think and say, 'Hmmmm, now what would I do in that sort of scenario?'

So I invite you to do the same thing, think and speculate, try to have fun doing so and maybe we will all learn something new from each other that might mitigate such a scenario.

Thanks and have fun.

A .30-.30 is a brush rifle, purposely designed for close quarters.

A scope on that rifle is a waste of time and money.

Good point, but if the weapons have been confiscated you use what you manage to find.

A reticule is a woman’s drawstring bag used especially as a carryall. Stopped reading to look it up. Can’t imagine how the story ends.

Thirty-Thirty was also a main character in "Bravestar" during the 80's.

He was a bad-ass cyber-horse with a plasma cannon.

Just sayin'...

The only way I can see the grid of Canada and the US going down in ten minutes is if there is a major EMP pulse or an extremely coordinated and massive effort of sabotage.

MISO, for one, is interconnected into Canada.

I see I wasn’t clear... It was sabotage, totally deliberate from the beginning to the end.

In shooting incident occurs nearly a month later on after the initial Sabotaged Power outage by the Government. It is in conjunction with other rebel acts of sabotage that are only alluded too.

Also here is a news story about something similar:

http://www.wrangellsentinel.com/story/2012/08/30/news/rifle-shots-cause-power-outage/474.html

So a rifle can cause a power outage if done at a strategic location or just by accident. Something to think about.

I doubt the government could execute a country wide blackout in ten minutes through sabotage without someone somewhere letting the cat out of the bag. The sabotage would have to be so massive there would be no way to keep it secret. The government doesn’t control much of the grid anyway.

Ok fine ... You win...

It’s a thought experiment posed as a story. There is no way it can be done, it’s totally impossible; so there is no reason to ever think about such a thing occurring.

Happy now?
