I know a wonderful family that’s in debt up to its eyebrows. I’m riding with the dad and he’s on the super-expensive screen phone with the kids talking about going to dinner and then a concert. I’m thinking, okay, we were just talking about you not being able to make payments on your $30,000 in debt now. Why not skip dinner out (which was frequent) and the concert, which was $150/each and stay home and watch your dish network ($100 plus per month)?
But I didn’t say anything.
I don’t own a TV or an iPhone. I own my house, my car and everything else I have. This guy calls me his “rich buddy.” That really annoys me.
I see that sort of thing a lot — it’s all twisted around. Nowadays, “poor” people have more stuff than anyone, and “rich” people live within their means and don’t have all the goodies.
