400+ pump at about 250 300
When not being used hard, you probably have water around a hundred feet down, maybe more, maybe less, but well guys like to keep a sizable head over the pump to act as your reservoir.
You can make a simple pickup tool with some 3 or 4” pvc pipe, and a rubber flap on the bottom to act as a valve, open on the down motion, flap shuts on extraction. Make sure to keep the rope clean and you’re good to go. The length of the pipe will determine how heavy it is to haul up. As long as you don’t go crazy with usage, this simple tool will get you all the water you need for survival.
Oh yeah, you’ll have to pull your pump out for the big version of this, consider smaller pipe (you can make it longer) to avoid having to pull the pump, as long as the centralizers don’t get in the way.
That would be a long rope.
