The government has grown about 1000% bigger than needed and this is another sign of the government bloating to a size where it doesn’t work for the people anymore.
From the movie the Hunger Games, District One is the capitol of post-apocalyptic America. The ruling class of District One are out of touch, overbearing, prone to extremes in fashion, dismissive of anyone not in the district. Evil, underhanded, their whole lives revolve around power and the money that comes with it. They suppress the other districts via taxation and tyrannical edicts. Their favorite sport pits members of the other districts against one another in battles to the death.
Sound familiar?
I know it’s satire, but only mildly.
Walking around D.C. these days is dizzying. All the expensive buildings, cars, high prices, outrageous prices for homes in the leafy suburbs...and no industry.
Then you get it....this is where the money goes. So the new Aristocracy can pocket it, then raise taxes yet again and bump up their own salaries. Wouldn’t want people in the government to be underpaid, would we?
We are right back where we started: serfs sending their hard earned labor to the Overlord class.
Almost got me on this one.....
When I visited DC, it was like flyover country USED to look.
You didn’t see “for lease” and “available” on 50% of the commercial buildings.
The DC beltway area is the place to be, I’ve counseled several young folks to head there.
