Facing Primary, Lindsey Graham Now Supports Defunding ObamaCare
Breitbart.com ^ | 9/21/13 | Mike Flynn

On Friday, the House voted for a resolution to keep government open but also defund ObamaCare. Within minutes, Nancy Mace, who is opposing Sen. Lindsey Graham in the GOP primary, issue a press release attacking Graham for his past criticism of the defunding strategy. In just two hours, Graham tweeted that he supported the House's efforts to defund the unpopular health care law. Such is the power of primaries.

As recently as July, Graham said that defunding ObamaCare was "a bridge too far for him." Primary opponents do tend to focus a politician's mind.

Graham faces at least three opponents in next year's primary contest. Normally, multiple challengers give an edge to incumbents, as opposition is split among several challengers. South Carolina, however, uses a run-off system. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, the top two voter-getters face off in a run-off. Multiple challengers increase the odds that Graham falls below 50% and has to face a run-off.

Graham is no doubt a nice man and would make a good GOP Senator from a state like Maine. His representing South Carolina, however, is a wasted opportunity for conservatives. An East Coast John McCain does a disservice to the Palmetto State.

Graham's tweet in support of the House action indicates he is aware of the challenge before him. Few incumbents are so disliked by the grass-roots, both in South Carolina and across the country. A run-off election, with a single conservative challenger, would ignite national interest and possibly create a wave that washes over Graham.

His tweet in support of defunding ObamaCare was a good start. He now has to follow that up over the coming weeks.

Juan is the lead “tacker”. Linda follows in his wake.

Lt. Governor, State of Texas. He's the incumbent. Has 3 challengers, serious challengers in the primary.

You know he hates it that we’re watching his every move.

I wonder if he wants to take Juan’s mantle, or if he will be someone else’s butt boy after Juan is gone.

Oh, ok. That’s the office he currently holds right. Texas can do better. And did last year. Thank you Texas!

He doesn’t have that quality. He’s more like a hemorrhoid. Useless and annoying.

Well, I hope we get his vote and then kick him out of office anyway.

Exactly. Doing his job for his constituents or the next 14 months and refraining from doing any MORE damage is the least he owes them, but it still wouldn't make him the best candidate for the seat (especially since we all know he'll turn hard to port as soon as the election's over).

Why is it a good start? It’s just political BS said by a person who will change on a dime once reelected.

I don't thing cotton was saying it was a good start towards earning reelection; I think he was saying it's a good start on insincere-but-the-votes-still-count conservative behavior out of Miss Lindsey till she gets fired in November. The only downside is the fury of the woman scorned between election day and end-of-term. She'll probably anoint Obama emperor for life or something. I still can't understand why we have lame duck sessions in Congress.

EXACTLY. Just like he'd cross-examine an Obama candidate in such a way to appear the tough guy, then shrug and say "elections have consequences" and vote with the Democrats. This is his MO. Over and over.

HEY LINDSEY. Elections have consequences, but primary elections are a purely delicious slice of revenge pie.

I don’t know that this would be such a boon to us, having Senators not elected popularly. There’s a pile of RINOs and used-to-be Democrats in the South Carolina houses, bought and paid for by trial lawyers and Duke Energy just like LG. I think we’re better off electing them directly, especially with the newly energized conservative bloc.

Yep. We made some fundamental mistakes in 1913. THE fundamental mistake was booting the states out of the government. It guaranteed a consolidation of all power, as evidenced by the New Deal, Great Society and the rise of Zero.

Until a senate of the states is restored, our head first dive into tyranny is a certainty.
