Depending on how high it was if it had detonated, we’re lucky we aren’t living in the 1700’s right now. (EMP)

Think it would have knocked out all the laptops and ipods, and scrambled the electronic ignition on the cars?

EMP wouldn't have been a big problem in 1961.

Especially in North Carolina. Some folks would have missed listening to a ball game or two, but not much else.

Not if you don’t mind living without electricity. True about laptops and ipods, an EMP would still have fried the electronics in cars and trucks.
