Of course, the progressives will say: “so who would have noticed the loss of a bunch of racist rednecks.” Of course those now despised “racist rednecks” were all yellow dog voting dimocrats back then.

Wow. Depending on how high it was if it had detonated, we’re lucky we aren’t living in the 1700’s right now. (EMP)

EMP wouldn't have been a big problem in 1961.

Wouldn’t it have taken some doing to cause them to detonate?

Let’s not forget LBJ setting off a couple of nukes in Mississippi to discourage resistance to the ‘Civil Rights Act’ which he had signed about 3 months before the first one.

While US nukes have numerous safety interlocks that prevent them from accidentally detonating and presumably keeping them from being armed except on Presidential command, I wonder just how secure are the nukes in places like Pakistan and North Korea. Could Pakistani nuclear weapons fall into the wrong hands and be easily used?

EMP wouldn't have been a big problem in 1961.Especially in North Carolina. Some folks would have missed listening to a ball game or two, but not much else.

There is still a missing H-Bomb somewhere near Tybee island near Savannah Georgia. That was in 1958.

Hmmm. I was born in Ft. Bragg NC - February 4, 1961. I guess I’d be dead.
