German home-schooled children taken into care

A court in central Germany has ordered four children to be taken into care because their parents refused to stop home-schooling them.

The parents are deeply religious and have even refused to send the children to a Christian private school, saying they wanted to keep them away from "undesirable influences".

The children, aged 8 to 14, were taken from their home in Darmstadt in a police raid last Thursday.

Home-schooling is banned in Germany.

Officials said the parents had kept their children away from the outside world.

The children were taken into care as a last resort, in order to guarantee their right to education, said the head of the regional youth services department, Klaus Behnis.

They also had a right to grow up to be capable of living in society, which was only possible if they were exposed to different points of view, he added.

The parents had refused to have their children's levels of education tested, Mr Behnis said.

The case had been the subject of legal proceedings in Germany for several years.

“Social Welfare System”

Enslaving humanity for its own good.

This is ironic since the State is denying the Children access to their Parents p.o.v.

Guess these poor children are being brainwashed by the State now. I pray they withstand it with their Faith intact.

Seeing how hostile the State is to Christians, I wonder if they will place the Children in the care of rabid atheists.

Yep... the local welfare office is certainly brimming with home schoolers.. I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone graduating from public school on welfare. Good thing we have all of those well educated folks who certainly know better than parents how to teach children, tax dollars saved... And how efficient the system is as well... oh wait. I lived in Germany for four years, a long time ago, independents thinkers were hard to find. Seems to me the only people truly interested in their child’s success is their parents. Also seems that others are equally interested in their children’s success and if they can use the government guns to control how much other people’s children learn.. and get paid... Bonus. Ever notice how these folks who are enforcing this are exempt from it.

You can bet soon they will start rounding up homeschoolers in the US

Not only supporters of govt schools are anti-Homeschool....so are GOP supporters of “vouchers” and private schools....as Homeschools cut into their govt revenue streams

Notice that the GOP never pushes support for Homeschooling...only government vouchers for public school

Of course, any GOP who supports Free Trade Globalism, and rails against “isolationism and protectionism” supports the UN, and, its global efforts to end homeschooling

Parents with HS diplomas and lower do quite well homeschooling...their kids still are better educated than public, and even, private school kids

German parents with the basic 9 yrs of education are quite capable of teaching their children up to Gymnasium or trade school level.

Governments dislike Homeschooling not because children do not get educated...Governments dislike Homeschooling because children DO get educated

So a person has the right to kidnap children if they possess educational credentials. And this is actually under discussion.
