For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Luke 14:28
I didnt just wake up one day and say to myself, I think I will run for Congress. It wasnt like that at all.
I have wanted to be a Veterinarian all my life. I set my goals and made one step in that direction every day. No matter the hurdles, I was determined to succeed. I tended and nurtured my dream into a goal, my goal into a practice, and my practice into a successful business of 35 years. I built my Practice out of nothing, bought my home and my farm, built up my livestock herds, and made a happy and successful life.
I love my home, my farm, my business, my church, my town, and my state. But I love America, too, and I knew and understood that if we lose the Freedom, Liberty, and Opportunity of this country that we so often take for granted, then I stand to lose all the other things that I love as well.
I have been a Conservative all my life, and have worked within the Republican Party to preserve and protect Conservative values. I worked as the advertising coordinator for our local Republican Party for many years, and have maintained an ongoing active membership.
I wrote, and called, and begged our current Representative for years to do some things, and not do others to no avail. I watched in frustration as the Republican Leadership in Washington, with our Representative going along, allowed our Free market based economy, our Conservative values, and our Constitutionally protected Liberty fall by the wayside bit by bit despite their repeated election promises to work harder and do better. Finally, I reached my own personal tipping point.
If Im going to do something, I want to do it right so I began to count the cost and study the ways to build a house on rock.
I enrolled in Candidate School at the Leadership Institute in Washington DC, and completed that course learning from the excellent and experienced teachers there. I took classes with American Majority here in Texas, focusing on Conservative issues and how to make progress against the leftist push. I returned to Washington DC, and sat down with the folks at FreedomWorks to discuss Americas future, and what I would be able to do to change the direction from inside Congress. I took Hillsdale Colleges Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution when they offered it online. Finally, I went to Austin to network with the Republican Party of Texas, and took courses with them on Campaign management and Campaign finance law specific to Texas Candidates.
I had all my cards on the table in front of me, and I knew not only what it would take to run and win, but also what I stood to lose by embarking on the Campaign trail, especially when I won.
I made my decision this Country, OUR USA, was worth it.
I called my family and told them my decision. Then I told my Church family, because I had seen what they did to Sarah Palins former Church. I told my staff here at the clinic, because I knew how much my Campaign would impact them as well.
And then I called my Representatives Office to let him know that I was running against him.
As an unknown from nowhere a Private Practice Veterinarian and 31yr Army Veteran from the small town of Bowie, TX I was able to earn 22% of the vote throughout the 40+ County District in 2012. Not bad for a first Campaign.
I dont give up. I think a lot of Conservatives will try something and give up if it doesnt work the first time, but we cant do that. It hinders our progress. If its important enough to run a first time, then I believe that its important to keep running to make a difference.
I announced for 2014 on 30 May 2012, the day after the Texas Republican Primary. With the name recognition I have earned through the hard work of the last campaign, plus the new contacts I am making daily, I know that a WIN is possible.
I am willing to give 110% to make that happen.
Is she willing to vote against Bonehead as speaker if elected?
If not, I’ll pass on donating. So where does she stand on voting for
Bonehead, if elected?
She would be a massive improvement over Thornberry.
What part of Texas?
She is she, LTC, Ret.
I read your bio. SALUTE
From the incumbent Mac Thornberry’s website. . .
Larger than 13 states and covering over 40,000 square miles and all or part of 41 counties, the 13th District of Texas encompasses the Texas Panhandle and stretches between the Oklahoma and New Mexico borders, winds across the Panhandle into the South Plains north of Lubbock, then runs east across the Red River Valley through Wichita Falls.
Would have cheerfully voted against him last time. Of course you know -— that one statement just put another six figures in Thornberry’s warchest!!!
You just asked her. See what she says.
Sorry folks -— I thought my signature, with my website, would be included. Here it is:

Thank you!!!
Wow. Big District. Worked in Lubbock in the early 80’s for a couple of months and used to drive from Gruver down to Tulia at least once a month on business. Lots of cows and tumbleweeds, but not a lot of people back then. Drove through the area last year coming back from Colorado at Christmas and I couldn’t believe how spread out Lubbock is. Huge wind farms were a real shocker.
Dr. Barlow has her work cut out for her. If she’s a keeper for those people hope she has a good team in place to help her.
Pam,
Good luck. Although I do not live in Texas and cannot vote in Texas
I just hit you up with a donation. A Paypal option would have been nice.
What you give up in higher fees may be made up by easier and more
convenient donations.
I was thinking, I do not ever recall seeing a candidate personally post on this site. How can anyone pass up the opportunity to support you, as long
as you don’t vote for Bonehead for speaker!
Good luck and God Bless!
Alan
Pledge to do that, and you'll get my vote and my money - one time because I now realize once our candidates go to DC, they tend to forget the "little people" back home!
Please see post #8 above.
“What part of Texas?”
13th District. Sorta Wichita Falls and up to the Northwest. Amarillo and the Northern part of the panhandle.
Amarillo and the Northern part of the panhandle.”
That part of Texas where the trees grow 1 foot tall and extend out 16 feet and tumbleweeds have the right of way. Used to laugh at the guys I worked with who wouldn’t go into Amarillo in the 1980’s because traffic was too bad.
Checked your page....as a vet, you’ve got a lot more chops than Dr. Pol!
