From the incumbent Mac Thornberry’s website. . .
Larger than 13 states and covering over 40,000 square miles and all or part of 41 counties, the 13th District of Texas encompasses the Texas Panhandle and stretches between the Oklahoma and New Mexico borders, winds across the Panhandle into the South Plains north of Lubbock, then runs east across the Red River Valley through Wichita Falls.
Wow. Big District. Worked in Lubbock in the early 80’s for a couple of months and used to drive from Gruver down to Tulia at least once a month on business. Lots of cows and tumbleweeds, but not a lot of people back then. Drove through the area last year coming back from Colorado at Christmas and I couldn’t believe how spread out Lubbock is. Huge wind farms were a real shocker.
Dr. Barlow has her work cut out for her. If she’s a keeper for those people hope she has a good team in place to help her.
