And Now The NYSE Breaks: NASDAQ HAS DECLARED SELF HELP AGAINST NYSE ARCA
Zero Hedge ^ | August 22, 2013 | Tyler Durden

Wondering why the ES is soaring? Because the NYSE just broke, too.

NASDAQ HAS DECLARED SELF HELP AGAINST NYSE ARCA (ARCA)

NASDAQ DECLARES SELF HELP AGAINST NYSE ARCA AS/OF 15:26:42 E.T

NYSE ARCA HAVING DIFFICULTY PROCESSING OUTBOUND TAPE C QUOTES

And BATS too:

BATS HAS DECLARED SELF-HELP AGAINST ANOTHER MARKET CENTER BATS SAYS ROUTING TO NYSE ARCA HAS BEEN SUSPENDED AS OF 15:39

An absolute circus meant only to preserve confidence in a rigged, manipulated system based on incorrect electronic trades.

and spent 2 1/2 hours . . . in meetings.

2 1/2 hours to do an IT root cause analysis? That doesn't smell right.

There is no evidence so far that anyone profited off of this. Equities were fairly straight and actually went up after the whole thing was over.

A Flash Crash is a whole different animal. Flash Crashes are basically computers talking to computers whiich domino into hypersensitive market moves. Viable, but dangerous.

This is something that I am near 100% certain couldn't or shouldn't have happened.

What happened Tuesday?

The disruption, just two days after options markets were roiled by mistaken trades sent by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., is the latest in a series of computer malfunctions that have raised questions about the reliability of electronic markets.

Obama is getting desperate and wants to mash all of the buttons on the console in hopes of starting mass panic. Something is coming, I fear.

I hope you are wrong, I think you are if not totally correct then enough so to take this all very seriously.

Obama JUST met with Wall Street big wigs. This can NOT be coincidental

Correct...with all the fundraisers that could be attended and golf courses that could be played, ubama doesn't just "coincidentally" hold meetings.

In my job before retirement, as manager I had to conduct (among many other duties) risk assessments of my organization's computer application systems. All high and medium risk areas were required to have redundant multi-located servers that would be transparent during malfuctions.

How can this happen to what should be the most risk averse system on the planet? Again, this just doesn't smell right.

Breaking fron CNBC is that the blame now is toward a software glitch, or a glitch from a software upgrade.

Software upgrade? I call Double BS on that one. Any updates would have gotten full vetting on a test server for at least a week.

The plot thickens.

Yes. An EMP, while harmless to us, would kill 90% of the population within a year.

Have you read One Second After? Excellent book.

Yes, I have. It’s superb. Remember the short-lived TV series, “Jericho”?

Is there someone who can explain the abbreviations? A more generalized report of what happened, in English?

It’s a mell of a hess. A server went down and halted trading on the NASDAQ exchange. The other exchanges were not affected.Trading resumed 3 hours later with the normal BS cover-up story to explain it.
