When our states hold a Constitutional Convention to discuss the Liberty Amendments [already a top seller], leftists will take advantage of any flawed thinking on our side. They too will offer amendments. We must be mentally prepared for that -- it will be 'fast and furious'.
I do hope that Glenn Beck notices that while he may not be attacking our freedoms directly, there is one small way in which he might empower leftists to launch an anti-freedom amendment.
Glenn Beck is concerned about behaviorial science. He should be. Look at the propaganda movement against vigilantees. [I myself do not support vigilantees, but not for the reasons that the Ruling Class does. They want us to be conditioned into feeling powerless.] But Beck's concern about the behavioral science of violence in the US [despite being an 'ace' most of the time] is bass-ackwards:
------
Busting the myth of media and violence http://www.medialifemagazine.com:8080/news2001/feb01/feb12/3_wed/news6wednesday.html
"Despite all their violent entertainment," says Twitchell, "they have one of the most docile of social cultures, because they attach shame to violent acts. In other words, they can indulge in violent entertainment and still make violent activity shameful. People can handle that."
Actually, you dont have to go that far afield to find a similar example. Violent crime rates in America have been dropping in recent years, at the same time that entertainment has, if anything, gotten more extreme. So the link again is what exactly? [snip]
-------
Yes, the Pentagon did condition our fighting forces to fight more effectively. And yes, it did spill over to video games. BUT -- did it increase violence in the US?
No.
Remember Japan [noted above]. Japan's willingness to be violent was well-established back in WWII. They fought ruthlessly, as did our officers, artillery, air men, and machine gunners [although our riflemen were too peace-loving and innefective]. But now how violent is Japan today? NOT.
Now for here in the US -- our kids are generally less violent than ever except where street gangs are too prominent. Street gangs cause violence, NOT video games. It's our 'gansta' culture. It's the Balkanization of illegal immigrants. The drug scene. And the liberals' war on God -- those are the reasons for hot beds of violence. [I offer an effective solution for those and many other problems in my first post after this vanity.]
I contend that violent entertainment REDUCES real life violence. At the same time, our military is more effective, and people do not cower in the streets as much [or suffer from stress with shaking hands every time they see potential danger] when they are mentally conditioned to defend themselves against real thugs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if violent entertainment saved Zimmerman's life.
Besides, violent games are more entertaining when you need to keep the good guys alive while killing the bad guys. That will be the norm over time -- to make split second decisions about who NOT to kill. In some popular violent games, you even HEAL the 'good guys' during a battle and kick yourself if you don't help them quickly enough.
In other words, we shouldn't let the leftist camel's nose in this tent, period.
Solutions:
I offer suggestions that could be brought up during the Liberty Amendment Convention:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3056931/posts?page=22#22
For example:
We could allow police to have temporary powers regarding teens wearing gang colors in troubled neighborhoods [a power that sunsets after, let’s say, two years].
That would save thousands of lives and decimate street gangs.
And we could amend the Constitution to modify the definition of ‘humane treatment’ in prisons to make crime fighting more affordable.
It's NOT a "Constitutional Convention". It's important to use the correct terms per the Constitution. WE NEED to keep STRICTLY in line with our rights and power enumerated therein.
It is a "Convention of the States for the Purpose of Amending the Constitution."
“And we could amend the Constitution to modify the definition of humane treatment in prisons to make crime fighting more affordable.”
The problem with ‘humane treatment’ and the ‘cruel and unusual punishment’ phrases is that everyone, including the leftists, have their own opinions about what constitute’s ‘humane’ and ‘cruel and unusual’ punishment.
However the new words are written.....the leftists will twist the words to what they want the words to say. That is what they are currently doing and stomping all over the Constitution. Words mean nothing to them unless THEY get to interpret the words. The exact same thing will happen with the new words.
This is a problem when our society is not moral. It’s the only way freedom can work.
What’s the point of considering new amendments when the existing amendments are ignored? The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution should prevent Obamacare, but the Supreme Court overruled the the Tenth Amendment.
Thank you for the correction.
You are ABSOLUTELY correct. That is EXACTLY how the progessives have perverted everything.
I believe the solution to leftists’ bastardized ‘interpretation’ is giving the states the power to impeach judicial activists as well as appointees of the Fed/Exec branch.
I also think that repealing of Fed legislation should be easier too. The power to reset and cleanse.
THAT is the root problem.
Morality has been perverted through colleges and universities. I partically lament our nations’ religions. All clergy of all religions are being systematically ground up in leftist re-education camps [aka college ‘educations’].
One gentle way to nudge our nation back is to hold wacko professors’ feet to the fire via mandatory debates. That is another suggestion I thought up yesterday:
[obviously, this is just one quick idea]
The states could appoint a National Debate Host who can mandate that any professor, teacher, judge, or politician must participate in a fair-time public debate with a selected opponent. None of them could be imposed upon more than three times a year, for example, and no personal attacks are permitted, merely issues and philosophy, etc.

Bottom line — a convention with conservatives as the driving force can solve ALL of these problems more quickly than people realize.
An amendment can remove any judge and repeal any ruling. Kagan would disagree, as she had already suggested. But don’t believe her when she tries to tell you that no amendment to the constitution without supreme sandwich approval. If the supreme kangeroos seize such power, freedom truly would be finished then.
Nothing is more powerful than a Constitutional Amendment. That is why convervatives tread very lightly on the subject.
Well, the Almighty is more powerful than a Constitutional Amendment.
