While we normally pick a person who recently committed or expressed some anti-American actions of sentiments, the person we chose this week did their act of violence back in 2009. That was when Major Nidal Hasan went on a rampage at Fort Hood and murdered 13 people. (I actually consider the total to be 14 as one of the victims was pregnant.) Hasan's trial is winding down and further details of this heinous act has emerged during this week. It is for that reason that Nidal Hasan is our Jerk of the Week, even though the moniker of "week" doesn't describe the level of loathing I have for this animal.
Nidal Hasan chose to murder innocent people as he felt he would be a martyr by doing so. This piece of excrement had been in contact with Anwar al-Awlaki, a Yemen-based cleric who was a terrorist and part of Al-Qaeda, and had been getting progressively more radical for several years before the attack. On November 5, 2009, Hasan entered the Soldier Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood where he worked as a psychiatrist. The center was where soldiers went for routine medical treatment before and after deployment. In other words, he chose a hospital to murder people. Hasan sat a table for a few minutes, then jumped and started shooting while yelling, "Allahu Akbar!" By the time police had shot and incapacitated Hasan, 13 (14) people were dead and more than 30 injured.
Right now, Hasan's trial is taking place in a military court. To add insult to injury, Hasan is representing himself so that he actually gets to question survivors of his murderous rampage. Surprisingly, Hasan has been low-key during the trial and has only questioned two of the witnesses against him. I personally think he's waiting for the prosecution to rest before he starts to turn the entire proceedings into a circus.
Some new information has come to light during the trial. First, Hasan is unrepentant. He has authorized the release of a report where he states that he "would still be a martyr" if executed by the government. I think that we should help him on his way, preferably by the most painful method possible. Forensic experts have testified that four people were murdered while laying upon the floor. The number of shots for the four victims were six, three, four, and three. What kind of person fires multiple times upon a helpless person lying upon a floor? The answer is a monster, which all radical Muslims are. They believe that anything is justifiable to bring about sharia law, whether it be lying, murdering, arson, bombing, or more. They truly believe that the ends justify the means and that they'll be rewarded in the afterlife for their actions, even though I believe that they're all burning in Hell. One soldier who charged Hasan was shot 12 times. That brave soul was Spc. Frederick Greene of Mountain City, Tennessee. He was 29, married, had two children, an active Baptists, and was called the "Silent Soldier" for his laid-back demeanor. Francheska Velez was the pregnant soldier who was killed by Hasan. She was 21 and her unborn baby died with her. Such losses such as Greene and Velez truly diminish us all.
It would be remiss for me not to mention some of the reaction to the Fort Hood shootings. While Hasan will surely burn in Hell for his actions, some of the reactions from our government are simply deplorable and shameful. Obama and the Defense Department called the shooting "workplace violence" and not terrorism. Obama has gone way out of his way not to link the shootings to Islamic extremism. In fact, the federal government has done everything to promote pro-Muslim sentiment without regard to the huge chunk of Muslims who embrace violent extremism. It's a sad thing as the only way you can defeat evil is to confront it head on. Dancing your way around the issue or thinking how not to offend those who hate you will lead us to our doom. It reminds me of the Harry Potter books where no one would say "Voldemort" as they lived in fear. Ignoring or refusing to label a problem won't make it go away.

He is a possessed human whose demons are laughing at the survivors and tempting hatred so they can claim more victims souls. I know we must, but this type of human does not deserve a trial.

I doubt if a death sentence will be carried out under Obama. I’d love to see the bastard buried in a heap of pork fat after being executed.
