Yesterday Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, appeared to attempt to act like a leader by throwing cold water on the government shutdown plan, which many Republicans have endorsed as a way to stop the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The problem is the bill that would shut down the government wouldnt shut down Obamacare, Mr. McConnell told a group of healthcare workers in southern Kentucky. Most of it is permanent law and not affected by that. It also wouldnt stop the taxes. Taxes that are going in on medical devices, taxes that are going in on health insurance premiums.
According to WYMT, Mr. McConnell even copped to sort of liking certain aspects of the presidents health reform law.
There are a handful of things in the 2,700-page bill that probably are okay, Mr. McConnell said.
Will wonders never cease? Yes, in fact, they will.
After sounding sensible for a second, Mr. McConnell told The Washington Posts Greg Sargent that he did not mean to take sides in the dispute over whether to stage a shutdown confrontation. He was merely stating a fact that even if the government is shut down, it wont stop the funding of Obamacare.
To recap: Mr. McConnell knows the shutdown wont work as intended, but hes not willing to actually come down against it.

I really don’t have an opinion about the best way to stop Democratcare.
I would feel better though if I knew stopping Democratcare was a GOPe goal. I am highly skeptical about that.
The basic conflict is between those who want Liberty and those who want Totalitarianism.
For over a century various names have been applied by the advocates of Totalitarianism to their groups such as Progressive, Socialist, and Communist.
All such names are based on the King-Slave Style of governance.
The last King-Slave System practiced in America was the Plantation System which ended in a horrific Civil War, and consequences that we are still recovering from today.
Currently, the King-Slave Model has been sold to America as a Safety Net, and eagerly embraced by the 47 % who pay no person homage to their King.
The 53 % are being led by Republicans who are afraid of EFFECTIVELY opposing the King.
Hence, we have a watershed position in time rapidly approaching where we, the 53 % who pay our personal Federal Income Taxes, must choose between changing the Leaders of the Republican Party, or continue to financially support these same cowardly leaders.
Partial Government control is Socialism.
There is partial Liberty with Socialism.
Total Government control is Communism.
There is no Liberty with Communism.
Conservatives are dedicated to conserving Liberty.
The Federal politicians who support whole or partial Government control are either Socialists or Communists.
Conservatives should not donate money or time to these Socialists or Communists.
Will you LEAD, follow, or get out of the way?
Our sorry Democrats and RINOs in Congress have chosen to follow as America continues to not oppose The Man in The Big House at 1600 Plantation Avenue, in the District of Corruption.
What say all of you?
I would like the author (Juliet Lapidos) to write an article about how congressional staffers should be subjected to ObamaCare, rather than sniping at Republicans. They need to be taken to task for their exemption, and Juliet is the best person to do this.
Since she is obviously an Obama kool aide drinker, she should publish her medical insurance records and show us “unwashed” how she benefits from ObamaCare, just like we will.
FYI:
The basic conflict is between those who want Liberty and those who want Totalitarianism.
I am absolutely not voting for any Republican who does not actively advance the Tea Party agenda on all key issues including immigration.
If this country is going down the tubes (and it is), then the GOPe can go down with it.
Mitch McConnell can go straight to Hell, and take his fellow RINOs with him.
The base needs to make it absolutely clear to the RINOs that they will not be getting our support under ANY circumstances.
Thanks for making my main point.
BTW, there are only 3 men who currently control the entire US Federal Government, and sadly one of them is RINO Boehner.
BTW, BTW, why is he STILL Speaker of the House?
It was because of Bush we got Obama,
It is because of the GOP-e we got the Tea Party
The GOP-e and the Dems share the same bed.
More and more the US government is the Regulatory State. They make laws, enforce laws, impose taxes. All of them are unelected.
Permanent law, Scottish law, Clown law ... All the same BS. McCornhole is a turd that needs to be flushed.
Your point doesn’t need to be made. IMO it is self evident.
Every time congress passes a bill they promise us a benefit [in exchange for a loss of freedom].
The cost is implied but never explicitly stated. And 99% of the time we pay in loss of freedom and receive nothing or even a negative benefit in the bargain.
I disagree.
NOTHING is “self evident” to politicians and their goose-stepping loyal supporters.
