As a Christian, I always have to ask myself, “What would Jesus do?”

God knows he'd probably join them in the prisons until every detainee was set free. He would break down the prison walls. He would demand justice for God's people! I assume crimes like document fraud, tax fraud, drunk driving arrests resulting in lost of lives, sex offenders, etc, etc would be free to go about their business.. I never see these same Pastors talking about just what is the list of laws from their point of view is acceptable to break without any consequences ? How would Jesus feel about the illegals who hire the Mexican drug cartels to smuggle them into the country paying them thousands of dollars? Are they an approved travel agency ? How would JESUS feel about wage theft .The illegals who show up in ER'S the ER doctor is a separate bill,x-rays,lab work, why is it ok for illegals not pay these bills ? When illegals do not get paid ,Pastors are every where. When medical professions experience wage theft, I never see any Pastors telling the illegals how they have a moral obligation to pay their medical bills.

That’s an easy answer...God himself placed men in various places as he saw fit....with Borders,Cultures and Governance of....people need to remain where they are planted instead of trying to build another tower of Babel....which is what our government and the International elements are attempting.

All the other issues of medical...emergencies etc. should always be on a tempory basis....

"It is a biblical mandate. "

And, it is apparently a mandate which the good Rev Halverson would have the State enforce. Whom would she like to be in charge of this government "mandate", I wonder. And what other mandates would she like the state to enforce?

Hmmm?

My guess is that the Rev. Sarah knows as much about Jesus and biblical theology as she does about astrophysics. The only reason she could get and (presumably) keep her clerical job and not one with NASA is that all the “rockets” that have crashed and will crash and burn because of her incompetence in her current job will do so on the other side of judgment day; at NASA they would be doing so here and now where not only God but everyone else could bear witness.

Commentary: Jesus would demand justice for immigrants

Why yes, He would.

The problem is with the word "Justice", it does not mean what you think it means.

Justice would be to send them back to where they came from after seizing what they have to pay for what they took.

Or does she think Jesus is cool with thievery?

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

John 10:1

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

Doesn't sound like it.

Yes, he would.

Justice for them is to keep them from violating the laws of Caesar, i.e., recognized international sovereignty laws - just like the old “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.....”

In other words, Jesus would not want them violating laws that were established for good reason.

People tend to forget about that one. The fact is nobody know what Jesus would do. Although I believe God is in contol in all things, to assume what Jesus would do in any given circumstance we fihd ourselves in is arrogant.

bs

he would not endorse breaking the laws by invading countries and demanding services. they can and should have stayed in their own country.

using your ‘logic’ I should be able to walk into any restaurant and demand to be served without bringing any money. I’d starve without being fed... and I have a ‘’right to eat’... so the restaurant must feed me. right?

JESUS: OK, here’s another thousand fishes and bread
THE NEXT DAY
PEPE: eh, gringo, can you multiply houses instead of fish and bread? also gimme free hospitals too and if not, I will tell Rome you are an infidel

"Justice for immigrants"?? Is something unjust happening to immigrants that I haven't been told about? As far as I know, they're not even being required to comply with the law, so as far as I can tell they're coming out ahead with the government.

If they're being victimized in some way because of their illegal status, well I guess that cost/benefit calculation is theirs to make when they decide to live somewhere they aren't legally allowed to. Why does is sound as if they author expects us to feel guilty for people facing [some of] the consequences of their actions?

Those of us who claim one of the Abrahamic traditions know that we have been called to care for the immigrant among us.

That's right.

He said "Care for the needy".

He didn't say "Build a giant bloated governmental leviathan to eat out your sustenance, treating the needy better than you yourselves are treated, and enriching and empowering itself in the process".

And, it is apparently a [Biblical] mandate which the good Rev Halverson would have the State enforce.

And that is exactly the problem with this line of reasoning, or should I say "reasoning": if this "Reverend" intended to go out and feed, clothe, and care for the poor immigrants herself, this would be fine, but what she is really demanding is that the immigrants be allowed to come into this country and partake of all of its social services, including subsidized housing, food stamps, welfare, and free medical care, all of which are paid for by the labor of the people who already live here. So, in other words, this "Reverend" is trying to be like Robin Hood, not Jesus.

Nowhere in the Bible does it mandate that someone shall appoint themselves to enslave one group of people to benefit another. And that's what the entire welfare system is - enslavement of legitimate taxpayers to support tax eaters.

actually, it’s very clear what Jesus would think of breaking established laws

no wiggle room here.

If a person does not have a right to put a knife to my ribs and demand I provide him with goods and/or services (and he doesn’t), he cannot legitimately vote for the “government” to put that knife to my ribs on his behalf.

...we are called to speak truth to power.

I couldn't agree more, so here's the truth: They are here illegally, so they should go home. If they still want to be a US citizen, let them go through the legal process that's already in place. Once here, it's their obligation to assimilate into our culture, not the other way around. Don't come here and try to make our country into your old country. If that's your plan, stay where you are.

From "Rev." Halverson's Church website: "As Christians we follow Jesus, but we know that Christianity is only one path of many."

This should tell you all you need to know about Ms. Halverson's brand of "Chritianity".

WWJD? He would tell the reverend to get a brain. Her people may have come from Africa. Mine didn’t.
