Thank you. They need to do a controlled experiment by leaving the paper on the glass and scanning it different times to see if the algorithms do the same thing every time. If not, the algorithm is suspect. Why would an algorithm do different things in exactly the same circumstance? Do they create those things with volition? lol

This is common to all scanners. No two scans are identical, even if made without moving anything, because the scanning process is quite sensitive to environmental conditions. It’s not the software algorithm, but the actual scanning that causes the difference.
