Requirements Helpful attributes include an interest in working with radios, fiber optics, and transmission equipment; an ability to apply electronic principles and concepts; as well as a general understanding of math and physics. You must meet the following requirements to qualify:
* High School Diploma or GED * Must be between the ages of 17 and 35 * Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards * Must meet citizenship requirements
I believe that requirement is in violation of Federal Law. Age discrimination, that’s a no no.
Citizenship Requirements: it is only open to citizens of countries other than the United States.
Right?
Sounds like a National Guard recruiting ad.
Why the age discrimination?
Oh yeah, and if you’re a white male you better be heavily emasculated or gay.
Well, knowing the depravity of us FReepers, I’d say you failed the moral standards requirement. Just kidding. Too old would be my guess. ??
Moral standards?
Why are you wanting to enlist in the National Guard anyway?
Yep. Can’t post that about age. If you can get over your aversion to ambulance chasers perhaps you won’t have to work afterall.
Moral standards, of the kind our President possesses. LOL
Age Discrimination
http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/age.cfm
Age discrimination involves treating someone (an applicant or employee) less favorably because of his age.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) only forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older. It does not protect workers under the age of 40, although some states do have laws that protect younger workers from age discrimination.
One word will answer all of your questions... obama.
LLS
Pole dancing requires a certain aptitude for mathematics and the requirement that you are between the ages of 17-35 seems appropriate...
When I was laid off from UnitedHealthcare (thanks, Obamacare) they sent me a document with a list of people who had been terminated at the same time. No names, just titles and ages. There were about 40 people in my area that got the ax at the same time, some with way more time of service than I had even though I was at about 12 years.
So why the list. Two reasons, though they would never say it out loud. First, nothing personal look at all these other folks. Second, its not age, see some of these folks are younger than you are.
Unless there are other extenuating circumstances that require the applicant to be between 17 and 35, I don’t think they can list that as a requirement. Then again, do you really want to work somewhere that you know already discriminates based on age?
“...Age discrimination involves treating someone (an applicant or employee) less favorably because of his age....”

This sounds like military service recruitment standards. If so, I don’t believe age discrimination applies.
Whose deciding the moral standards?
About the only organization able to put in age requirements like that is the military. Maybe some police or fire agencies are able have low ages like that rather than physical testing.
Sounds like an ad for the Army.
thackney: From the EEOC link you posted:
Employer Coverage
20 or more employees
fulltlt: how big is the company advertising for employees “age under 35”?
Looks like they need someone to work in the sewers pulling communications cable....
