Secrecy is always secrecy.

“Tsarnev and Hassan are getting fair trails.”

Terrorists who made their jihadi ideas widely known internationally and digitally. Neither was stopped by the intelligence and law enforcement community. (despite hit shows like “24” and “Homeland”)

Neither could be confronted because our highest values are not offending muslims and championing sodomy.
If they will not confront jihadis here, why should I be willing to submit to constant surveillance by the Stasi?

So why do you buy this Snowden story that they are targeting you and Aunt Mabel? Something stinks about this guy.

Using domestic surveillance to suppress political opposition is not “just politics”. That pure 100% despotism. That’s using the tools of government to remain in power, NOT by advancing policies, but by blackmailing opponents.

That’s utterly disgusting.

If a campaign finds out the opponent is cheating on his wife, that’s fair game. But if a president uses the FBI to ferret out and expose the same information on his opponent, that’s criminal and that president should probably be imprisoned.

And....

It belongs at the feet of Barack Obama.

Snowden is either a moron or he is complicit.

Oh, it is indeed the gun. I do not buy this “man behind the gun” argument. That proposes that the NSA is normally fine and protecting America, and that Only Obama has violated our trust.

I do not care for my neighbor laying a .50 cal machine gun directly towards my front door and then telling me to trust him. I want to know why the gun is aimed my way in the first place.

“ In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson.

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.”

Patrick Henry

No dice. This is not an Obama problem. This problem was here before him and will remain after him.

If it was an Obama problem, then why did the house GOP vote last week to let him keep doing it? Why have Bush and Cheney both come out on Obamas side?
And Bush and Rumsfeld appointed Alexander to head the NSA. And this Bush appointee lied to congress about domestic spying until Snowden outed him.

No, as fun as it is, this is not solved by blaming Obama.

You look over your neighbors all the time.
When you draw a gun on him without cause we have an issue.

“It’s Complicated”

And as I have said, the lies of the despot usually are. And that’s what you tell a slave or a child, not to your master or to your boss.

Anyone employing that rhetorical evasion identifies their true cynical attitude towards the concept of the Constitutional republic. One cannot possibly hold that the people are supreme, and yet, may not be entrusted with the information to decide what is best for them.

I think it would be politically expedient the make the Commander in Chief actually have to take responsibility, don’t You?

Sure beats beating at the foundations of Gov.

Believe it or not, some people use power fairly.
There are King Solomon’s in this world.

“When you draw a gun on him without cause we have an issue”

And the government draws it’s metaphorical gun by aiming the apparatus of the intelligence services inwards, directly at me. The scope and scale is without precedent in US history.
And THAT is what has created the issue.

And I do not believe for a moment that it is for my protection, or the numerous government policies, flooding the nation with moslems and foreigners, and arming our enemies would not exist.
You cannot do those things, yet demand that I be willing to sacrifice my 4th amendment to make it all better.

Go believe in kings all you want. Trust them to know whats best for you. I cannot imagine anyone would lift up a king after “Common Sense” was published.
But no, I do not think this is simply a fine tool for beating Obama and then forgetting.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Boehner, etc are all just as guilty. This is a GOP problem as much as it is an Obama one.

Why does simply -following the constitution- as clearly written seem so difficult for you?
It has been perfectly adequate for 200 years. WWII, the cold war, etc. And now, we must abandon it because of some rag tag islamists?
Do you have so little faith in it, that you cannot imagine how a constitution following republic cannot defend itself from this farce of a threat?

I am not asking you to give up the 4th.
I am saying YOU have surrendered the 4th by your own actions.

Perhaps not you, but the public in general.

Why are they shocked?
Why would Alice Kravitz be shocked that someone is watching her?
