George Zimmerman, because he's never been convicted of a crime, could have his gun back if he wants it.
He should immediately put it up for auction. I know I'd pay several times the retail price of the gun to own "the gun that shot Trayvon Martin". And the money would surely go to a good cause. The George Zimmerman "victim of the race baiters" retirement fund.
Do it George. Get your gun back, put together a package to ensure provenance, and put it up for sale. Then tell me where to bid.
##########UPDATE##########
It turns out, I'll have to outbid John Derbyshire if I want to own the gun that shot Trayvon Martin (and I do.)
(I would call it 'the gun that saved George Zimmerman's life, but I doubt that crowd is quite done with him.)
Better: The Gun that Stopped the Trayvon Martin Assault
(and I use “assault” because the libs always throw that one around at us)
lol, although pulling a Snowden might be a better idea. It brings me no pleasure to say his best option for now is leaving the country for someplace without an extradition treaty with the Obama State.
Z will probably need the gun in the future. They are gunning for him aren’t they?
George Zimmerman to Get His Gun Back

George Zimmerman will get his gun back now that he has been cleared of murder and his lawyer said today that Zimmerman needs the weapon “even more” than before.
Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’Mara also practically dared the family of Trayvon Martin to file a widely expected civil suit against him, but said that Zimmerman might be filing lawsuits of his own.
...He said that Zimmerman intends to rearm himself. When asked if he would carry a gun, O’Mara said, ‘Yes. [There’s] even more reason now, isn’t there? There are a lot of people out there who actually hate him, though they shouldn’t.”
I named my Kel Tec PF9 Lil Trayvon.
One of my guns was used to kill someone in a justifiable shooting, not by me. I did get the gun back after about a year and a half. A real hastle, but it wasn’t marked.
Is Gene Pitney still around? I feel a song coming on.
I would be a lot better for Zimmerman to “gift” the gun to someone else he trusted, who would then auction it. This would insulate the money from those who would sue Zimmerman. To significantly increase the value of the gun at auction, he should provide a written document describing the gun and its serial number, signed by him and notarized.
If the gun did indeed get a lot of money at auction, it would be a big help in defraying his lawyers costs and lots of other expenses.
Could just sell it at a gunshow and use the no-background check loophole. /sarc
He could use the proceeds to buy something bigger and better.
The Travonator
That’s pushing it.
I agree with others that George is going to need that gun more than ever. And as we all know, there are no friends like friends with guns, especially when you need them.
To be honest, I would place Gavrilo Princip's pistol at the top of the list, but I might be accused of being a racist.
I may have to use that. Thanks, res45.
What about the firearms used in the shootings in Columbine, Texas? Or the rifles used to murder Sam or Vicki Weaver? Or the revolver used in the attempted murder of President Ronald Reagan?
That would be Columbine, Colorado.
They built a special train line off the Jersey Coast Line to bring President Garfield to a small house on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic in Elberon, which is the southernmost part of Long Branch, NJ. Many Presidents summered in Long Branch. President Garfield lingered there for more than a month, if I recall correctly, before he died. Where the track was laid is now called Lincoln Ave. The small house is located on Garfield Rd., a small cull de sac off Ocean Ave. You can see it on Google Maps - 89 Garfield Rd., Long Branch NJ. There is a small plaque that commemorates the location. I used to ride my bike there to look at it when I was young.
