Misissippi legislators overwhelmingly voted to clarify the Mississippi definition of "concealed weapon" during the legislative session this year.
The law, which had included the vague phrase "concealed in whole or in part" had been used by some law enforcement officers to prevent people from open carrying weapons, as guaranteed in the Mississippi Constitution, last changed in 1890:
"The right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person, or property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall not be called in question, but the legislature may regulate or forbid carrying concealed weapons."
Hundreds of demonstrators showed up openly carrying weapons in Corinth, Mississippi on July 6th, to show their support for the United States and Mississippi Constitutions.
The main organizer of the rally estimated that there were 350 to 400 people in attendance.
WWREG has video of some of the rally.
A circuit court judge has issued a controversial ruling that temporarily blocks the effect of the law clarification.
As David Hardy notes, it is unlikely that the Temporary Restraining Order will be upheld.

Dozens to Hundreds Mississippi ping
I was about to post the same. So are the gun grabbers trying to down play or the gun nuts trying to up play?
For the record, I’m a gun nut.
The reporterette says “dozens”. The organizer says 350 to 400. Technically, 350 to 400 is still “dozens”, just more dozens.
I looked at the video, and it would not surprise me in the least that there were more than two hundred present.
I am a lover of firearms and all things that go boom! I even played with sparklers as a child. I wonder if that statement will put me in an internment camp one day? If so... to steal a line: “AVENGE ME”!

Amazing, and no one’s gun suddenly went crazy over parking spaces. You know, I always thought that state law couldn’t supercede the federal constitution. But in some states you can’t even carry a pocket knife.

For the record, Im a gun nut.
I'm another and proud of it.
\ Go, freedom-loving Mississippians!
But, but shouldn’t it have turned into a mass shooting with all those gun toting citizens present? According to them a citizen with a gun will anatomically result in a shooting.
I’m just afraid that if I carry my Napoleonic heavy cavalry saber around in the mall, people might get the wrong impression.
Dozens to hundreds Mississippi bump!
I was thinking the same thing about my WWII Samurai sword that my Marine General great uncle confiscated from the Japanese.
;-)
Law was just delayed again
