Who is Edward Snowden? (And the Real Reason Government Fears Him)
self | J. Johnson

With all the banter going around concerning this ‘rouge element’, we need to take an honest look at what information has been revealed and more important - what makes this leaked information so damaging, and why Snowden is so dangerous?

We have already seen that NYU has fired a Chinese dissident in order to get permission to move forward with its Shanghai campus.

Can't wait for the first FReeper to call me unpatriotic for pointing out the evil regime that Snowden is fellating is evil.

It’s amazing how many conservatives are willing to make a hero out of a traitor simply because it embarrasses Obama.

Sometimes the enemy of our enemy is just another enemy.

These are not political secrets being leaked. For better or worse, this is how we are trying to win the war on the terrorists.

We know what Snowden has told us. You seem very eager to buy what he's selling.

I really don’t care if he is or isn’t as long as he upsets the admin.

You mean you disbelieve the info that this guvernment and NSA have been illegally snooping on us, keeping records of our every transaction and communication, and trashing out 4th Amendment Rights?

And why kill the messenger?

(1) The issue is not, and shouldn't be metadata. We don't own our metadata, which should be obvious.

(2) The issue is journalists and others being hacked and tapped, which has happened and which we did not learn from Snowden - since Snowden's handlers think this is a good practice.

(3) This goes beyond Obama and the Democrats being scum. I don't want Red China deciding our elections any more than I want corrupt Democrat machine officials deciding them.

Here, the government was in every aspect of your life, and she saw it immediately, and she hated it. I had spent time there as well, and had to admit she was right.

Early this year someone who left the Ukraine in the 80s told me that it's starting to feel like the Soviet Union. I didn't prompt the comment.

Snowden, will never appear in a US court....simply because NSA, really don’t want confirmation, (official) that they are conducting such activities...at the moment it is speculation....all major powers of the world, conduct such intercepts....

I knew the government had this capability before Snowden opened his mouth. The Patriot Act, etc.

I knew the government was abusing this capability before Snowden opened his mouth. The journalist hacking scandals.

I suspected the US was hacking China before this as well. Snowden confirmed that.

The whole point of Snowden: to "reveal" things about the US we already knew, while providing the Chinese government with hard evidence that the US has been hacking them.

You fell for it. Congratulations.

First - Snowden was a new hire at Bose Allen and somehow slipped into a high level Sys Admin slot after only three months on the job. How did he get the job in the first place and who appointed him into the Sys Admin slot?

Second - His large house in HI had not been lived in for three months pror to taking the job and absconding to China. This argues prior planning.

Third - He must have drawn large amounts of cash out of his pay to afford the flight and living expenses in HK.

Fourth - Why China? A country not known for freedom of expression, nor longevity of spies.

Fifth - There is always some beautiful gal involved in these sorts of cases - usually sent in by handlers.

Sixth - Method, Means, and Motive.
Candidates: Iran, NK, Russia, China, Obama, Self.

The first five have the means and method. The first four have the motive. Certainly Obama could have some motive, but given the scandals, this would not be the time.

The last - He may have had the means, but both motive and method are are on very shaky grounds.

Since he did not go near Iran, NK, or Russia, they are out.

This leaves China which has method, means, and motive to get this guy the job, the gal, the house, the cash to make his flight to HK where (coincidentally) the PLA has its hacking HQ.

Anyone - jimhohn, who thinks he is some sort of whistleblower cum hero is whistling Dixie in Harlem on a dark night in a forelorn alleyway.

A hero would have taken that information to his congressman,

Yeah. If I were him, I'd surely rush all this information to my senators Boxer and Feinstein, with a cc to Zoe Lofgren and Nancy Pelosi! idiot.

Well, OK, I wouldn't breach confidentiality, I'm NOT him, but expecting the people driving the corruption to do anything beyond shooting the messenger to stop it? You can't possibly be that naïve, can you?

If you were a CPA and you caught your boss embezzling, would you report it to him? If his boss was in on it would you report it to him? If the local sheriff was getting his cut, would you report it to him? Or would you go to the shareholders? We The People are America's shareholders, THEY (theoretically) work for US, not the other way around, not just yet.

Snowden is pretty obviously in the pay of Red China. It’s shocking how many people have deluded themselves about this.

Speaking of "delusions", your statement is pure speculation.

Wow, you all know former Communists who say that the Communists in China are right about the USA.

Please, keep the easily checkable anecdotal evidence coming.

Excellent deduction.

Public "Discovery" would not be in the best interests in exposing world-world obtrusiveness that reveals ZERO privacy.

Which explains why we will never hear from Snowden again.

I have a functioning brain. The one actionable thing that Snowden reveals is proof that the US is hacking Red China. Then he flees to . . . Red China.

1 + 1 = 2.

People who believe this is just a coincidence are the ones who are self-deluded.
