Why are these children being treated in the emergency room if it isn't harmful?
The people that brought them to the hospital probably didn’t know what was consumed. I imagine if it were the parents that found out, they would explain to the kids, watch them, put on some cartoons, listen to them laugh and then put them to bed.
Because they consumed too much and probably could not be woken up (temporarily) so the parents freaked out. Also, about 10% of people get anxiety instead of sleepiness from eating too much.
Obviously you may feel like hell but there is no toxic danger from over-consuming it. The only danger is passing out and asphyxiating yourself with a pillow, etc. Someone simply needs to watch the person and make sure their airways are open.
In large amounts it is like sleeping pills but much safer since there is no possible overdose. See my post 19
