That's certainly worth doing, MrB, though we already know the answer, which happens to be the one answer self-proclaimed "liberals" and "progressives" would never express aloud.
The history of leftist regimes during the past century is a history of censorship, political repression, poverty made worse by state policies, pseudo-science governed by political policies, increasingly rigid social stratification, political prisons, imperialist and ideological wars, and beyond all else, mass murder of citizens of leftist regimes. The leading "progressive" to date is Mao of communist China, who was responsible for the deaths of at least 70 million Chinese, most by starvation, and of that total, half or more were children.
Mass murder is most emphatically not a mere means to an end, but a goal whole and complete in itself. We can say mass murder is proof of psychopathology, proof of sociopathology, or any other scientific-sounding -ology; none of that, however, changes the fundamental fact:
