I think it is really likely he did not know he was illegal. it is not something they would have discussed and there are never any questions asked when registering for school.
That however does NOT relieve him or his family from what they did. The knowingly broke our laws for nearly 20 years. They all need to go back and apply legally.

Well, he IS Mormon. They’re not aware that the whole Kolob space story sounds pretty silly to everybody else, so..
I do believe that. I know a lady that didn’t find out until recently that her parents were here illegally for over 40 years. Her parents lied to the children about getting citizenship and many other things like where her father worked and that the house they thought was owned by the parents was actually rented. Now that the parents are elderly and the children are helping them with finances it has all come out. Strange thing is her parents could have became citizens under the last amnesty, they did qualify but for some odd reason didn’t do it.
When you set out to do something illegal you don’t necessarily tell even your own children the truth. The one thing most people don’t understand is once people come here illegally, lies and more illegal acts pretty much have to follow.
